HOw many did everyone get to the next level, and how do you predict they will do?

Let's talk about positive things for a while.

How many jumps and throws do you get in the regionals? How many in the prelims and how many in the finals?

Great job Luke...PR 13'9" and moving on to State. Looks like the girls got a royal scr$%^& though. Close was DQ'd for a rule infraction in the 100H. Had a hairband on her wrist. Then, the 4X2R ran and got the top seeded time. After the 4X2, our coach was called to the infield to tell us that Close was DQ'd in the 100H not only for having a hairband around her wrist, but also had double earrings on. Coach Howell came back and told us, and we didn't think anything of it, because we knew Close had a hairband around her wrist. When we arrived home, we discovered on baumspage that our 4X2 team was DQ'd. The funny thing is, Close doesn't even have pierced ears, but the alternate (Dotson) had double earrings on and was holding the blocks. We probably won't be able to protest, because we didn't even know we were DQ'd and time ran out for protests.

Not a bad start unless you're a sprinter.
The boys relays seem to go down in the same order every year, and the competition is relentless. Even with no Chilli, Wheelersburg, (DQ'd) and a Proctorville scratch, we still couldn't get it done in the 4x2. It's the same disadvantage for everybody, but I knew time would not be on our side with the injury delay before the race. Dunfee was solid, but the seniors looked a step or two off from last week.
Oh well, high school sports can be heartbreaking in the end, but I know a couple of kids and parents that are glad we were able to experience it.

Royster made it in the 200 and Link made it to the 400 finals. I hope they both can do well on Saturday. When that girl got injured they counted that as the 15 minute break. Link still had to run the 4x200 after that and then right after that the 400. It is all good though Link made it to finals and won his heat.

BTW--I have pictures from Pickerington in the 4x800m relays (girls and boys), girls 110m hurdles, girls high jump and boys 4x400m relay.

I had to leave mid-meet for a softball game at Lancaster and made it back only for the last race.

Let me know if anyone wants any pictures from those races.

Congrats to Federal Hocking's Emily Dunfee and Cory Vales. Emily got 2nd at regionals in the 3200 meter run and Cory got first in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet 8 inches. Good luck at state :)
