Just for instance, and go ahead and start replying as fast as all your little fingers may type, Minford last year didn't win the SOCII. They made it into the playoffs. Okay, they did lose that first playoff game, but so did burg? What Minford got out of that was a base for a program. A revamped and dedicated coaching staff (roman god may take it a little far), strong leadership to keep younger players straight, and experiences; along with that wonderful stadium 8)

Go Falcons

Burg did win their first playoof game against Ridgewood, lost to Fredricktown in OT.
Every team in the confrence should have winning the SOC as their first Goal each year. Burg's goals start with winning the first game, then SOC , then playoffs, then state.

2) Deserve to make the Playoffs
3) Deserve to win the State Championship

Man, The burg has no weakness, amazing! They lose the entire starting offense almost, a new coach, no huge lineman and a new QB. They have problems, big ones!

Sounds like you have all the answers. Burg has been trying to hide these big problems but I guess we couldn't keep them from your keen eyes.

As much a you would like them to have problems don't put too much stock into it.

Heres a wakeup call! This is HS, not college. HS doesn't have all these great waiting in the wings football players riding the pine waiting their turn. Burg has to break in a new QB, line, WRs, coach, his system and DBs. I don't think Terrelle Pryor is going to run in at QB.

my bad on burg last year in the playoffs... but is Lang qb'n for the pirates this season? from what I've heard/seen he's pretty good.

The thing I noticed about 'burg is not only the turnovers, but they didn't play hard. The Pirate backs ran like they had absolutely no confidence in their line. Only that White kid that was wearing # 31 ran hard.

Like I said never judge how the burg will be based on a scrimmage. That 35-7 prediction of yours was a little off!

Well I'd rather be lucky than good any day and that's what happened here. The prayer was thrown up and was answered. But don't get to use to counting on luck as it will run out sooner than later. Way too many mistakes by Ironton in the first half. As soon as that pop pass was fumbled deep in Pirate territory, at the 5 yard line on our opening drive, I thought luck isn't on our side tonight, and it wasn't. Not to take anything away from W'burg as they played one heck of a game and deserved to win.

Piketon on the other hand is a better program than you originally thought and lost in a 4th quarter shootout to Waverly, so that tells me they'd be in the thick of things if they were in the SOCII.

So you think it was luck that the burg didn't lose 35-7? Luck has nothing to do with turnovers. The burg made plenty of mistakes in the 2nd half that aided in irontons comeback. A 20 yd pass to a 6'5" wr is not a prayer. It's ok to admit the burg might have been a little better than you were giving them credit for.

Hey marshallman, how about those Pirates? Can you point out just where all the problems are with this Burg team? And yes we don't have Pryor running QB... we have Lang and Schankweiler.

OK...the last time that i checked this is why we okay the game, to see who is going to win and is better. You can look at whay team has who coming back and so forth. You can say "this or that"...but it dont really matter till the game is over.

Im sure that some people thought that the BURG was not going to win after Ironton scored the last time...well as we know we drove 86 yards and WON! The game is NOT over till the scoreboard says so...

Yes, West, Waverly and Minford all "have talent back" from last years team, so in my opinion the SOC II is VERY balanced. This should be a great year. I do believe the the SOCII went 4-1 in week one.

Should be another great year for High School Football! Never look past any team, you never know what they can do. Focus on the next weeks game....

Good game Friday BURG!

P.S....Sorry Bob Lutz...2 years in a row...lol
and the Ironton fans was not happy!

Can't believe some think Minford will finish 2-3 in the confrence. Just talked to Joel Williams,(he lives beside me now that they moved) and he doesn't understand it either. This running attack with the DUB brothers,B-MAC, and RAY RAY is very impressive. We know the passing game will come around. We did lose a good group of Seniors, but this could be the fastest Minford team ever.

Yeah congrats to Minford for beating River Valley...i didnt know they even had a team...when they play a team like Ironton then I will be supportive of them maybe winning the SOC II. They play alot better teams in the future and until they prove themselves agaisnt a better team i dont see them winning the gold football

several reasons.

people outside Minford know what a talented group you lost from last year and it wasn't like you were a buzzsaw last year. Wasn't West tied with you at the half and beyond last year?

The rest of the league is good. The other teams I predicted to beat you are rich in football tradition (Burg, Waverly, and West). They have success most years and not when just a good class goes through.

Your non-league schedule is terrible and will not prepare you for life in the SOC II. Other than Coal Grove who is probably the third placed team in the OVC, you dropped the only other team whom is descent this year in Piketon to pick up river valley, who hasn't had a winning team since our coach was there. Play somebody, don't just schedule easy wins. For instance the next 2 weeks West plays Portsmouth and South Point. If we were to loose 1 or both of those games I'm betting we would still learn more about are team than you will stomping Wellston and Huntington.
22 H River Valley (0-1) [4:15] W 42-6
8/29 A Wellston (0-0) [4:15]
9/5 A Huntington (0-1) [5:19]
9/12 H Dawson-Bryant (0-1) [5:19]
9/19 H Oak Hill (0-1) [5:19]
9/26 H Waverly (1-0) [4:15]
10/3 A Wheelersburg (1-0) [5:19]
10/10 H Portsmouth West (1-0) [5:19]
10/17 A Northwest (0-1) [4:15]
10/24 A Valley (1-0)

To people outside of Minford, your still just Minford. Right or wrong, whether you agree or not it is the case. And until you have a long run of success, people will still believe this. Minford has always had good athletes, see Basketball and such, but just have never found extended success in football. If they want that perception to change, go change it.

no one will know how good minford is until week 6 against waverly.

Since 2000, we have an outright and a share of the S.O.C.II so it's not exactly like we are the door mat. Go ahead and mark yourself down for a win against lowly Minford.
