That does not suprise me that a QB has not been named yet. I have heard of atleast two that were trying to be the Quarterback for the Tartans this year, and if true who I was told they will only push each other to be their best.

yeah I agree.
Davis only went 10 and 0 last year to East to a play off game for the first time in years, won numerous SOC titles, not to mention he was the winningest coach in East history, so dont do anything he did.

that kind of thinking from "the powers to be" is what run a good man off.

I agree. This person either had his feelings hurt because it was not about "him" or is a disgruntled parent. Take your pick. I am sure he/she kissed Darryl's butt when he was still coaching there. Attitudes like that is what is wrong with Sciotoville and why unless there are MAJOR changes, it will never be the same as it used to be. I just shake my head every time I pass through there anymore.

Thats a rather interesting view RogueWarrior; especially from a guy who doesn't really know or live in the community he was raised in; or is not around the football program enough to have a flying hint about anything! You are basing the majority of your words or feelings on what Coach Davis has told you!

Here is one for you... If Darryl Davis is such a great guy and done everything for the Sciotoville kids; then why is he coaching at Northwest this year? Why, would a coach that has given so much to this program, go out and try to beat the kids that he supposedly loves? I could see him still coaching maybe; for maybe a team that is not on the schedule! The man is supposedly on sick leave because of stress! Coaching or playing the game of football certainly is stressful! I don't know... maybe they consider him a coach there in the loosest since of the term!

I also, have heard Kelly White is a volunteer coach at Northwest this year! Who orchestrated that re-union? Now there is (2) ex-Tartan Alumni coaching for an opponent! Coach White had an opportunity to coach at East; why did he not? Was there an issue involving an outside entity?

And, as far as those MAJOR changes that you say need to be made; they have already been made! It's called new coach; new program and the kids now believe and think of a football season as 15 games long not 10 games! There new Head Coach will never tell them on the Monday practice of playoff week that he is satisfied with the season and the playoffs are not as important! The new Head Coach won't tell them 5 minutes before their first ever home playoff game; that the other team is bigger, faster and stronger and they will probably get beat! Or say just go out and don't embarrass us! Has never won a playoff game! No wonder, when you say things like this to your players. I would have liked to known what was said in the locker room before the Notre Dame game, the year they beat us 73-0! Which happens to be the worst beating East has ever had in history. Coach with the most wins in East history --- also, the coach with the longest tenure!

Talked to a player today and he said the numbers were in the high 20's to 30's. Also talked to someone else tonight and they said I should go down and watch a practice said it is amazing at how fast and strong this team is this year. Said there were some players that just look unreal with how strong they are with the likes of Dempsey and the Center for the team this year. If the line is as strong as what I am hearing and with Hoover in the backfield along with Bradford possibly coming in to run the ball when Hoover needs a break this should be a fun year for Tartan fans. Still though the only question going into the season I have is who the QB will be.

I think even Paul Brown couldnt coach Nwest past the Tartans. Coach Davis will know alot about the personnel of the Tartans but as far as scheme he wont know anything. East by a lot.

I'm pretty sure that your new hero couldn't do it either. By the way we'll take the trade of Davis for Hall anyday. From what the kids are saying they seem to like or even love the way they are treated by Davis and I never heard rumors about player/coach relationships like this a couple of years ago. Good luck to the new East Pirates :o except for week 1.

same people bashing Coah Davis praised him when they had him, now he is gone they bash him.

Give Hall two years, and they will be talking about how bad he is too.

even if they DO win 15 games this year

Just for your information! Coach Hall did beat East 3 years ago at Northwest! So he did coach the Mohawks past the Tartans!

Now... about the trade! There is no trade! He resigned! Quit! Twice! So, we went out and got the best coach that we could find; who has a proven track record everywhere he has been; except Northwest!

As far as the kids loving him! Great! I hope they do; it's important to like or love all of your coaches! The kids here in Sciotoville love Coach Larry Hall, Coach Andy Hall, Coach Duncan and still love Coach Bond and Coach Darrell Stapleton!

The players here in Sciotoville often comment on how well organized and fair Coach Hall is; they respect the program and believe in him because he believes in them! Every player on the team; comments about how they now know what a program is suppost to be run! Every senior only has one regret... that they didn't have him for 4 years! Every one of them!

And as for Coach Andy Hall; he is one of the best if not the best; high school quarteback coaches around! He really knows what he is doing!

So, a trade! I think we owe some boot! We'll give that to you in Week 1!

I think Oak Hill may have something to say about East going 10-0 and the SOC championship.

This could be the most dangerous East team the school has seen in a while....With a strong line coming back and the skills spots fast this team will shock people at how fast they are this year even compared to last year. I also look for this years East team as well as the future East teams to now put their foot on a teams wind pipe and crush it when they have a chance in the first half to completely take them out of a game. East has alot of talent in the senior and junior department but look for the younger talent to get PT in the second half of games and not just the last 2-3 minutes of the 4th. East will lose alot after this year but don't look for them to stay down long as their is talent in the junior high level and in the pee-wee level in which Coach Hall is going to build a PROGRAM including working with the pee-wee system one this that has not been done the last couple years. Also good to see not only alumni helping with the pee-wee system but two running backs that know how to get the young kids ready and teach them how to run the ball hard and hit a hole fast. The present and future of East football look real good.

From the sound of things, there is going to be some bad blood in week 1. East is going to be the favorite to win this game, but you can guarentee there is going to be a lot of nasty hits in this one.

I have no idea why the QB spot is being kept so secret. No team member will even give a hint.At practice the position is rotated between Garret,Mault and Hood. Each bring a different style and ability to the postion. I know the team as a whole are impressed with Coach Hall and will go the extra mile for him.He is a compassionate, fair, coach that utilizes each player to their ability with realistic expectations from each individual and the team as a whole. This is is what high school football should be. A fun exciting adventure that most of them will enjoy and keep these memories for a life time. Coach Hall has earned their respect.

Late reply to Warrior. The only thing I am disgruntled about is the last game East played under him. My"interest"at East played his position and played it well.Stacy Bond pleaded with Davis to mix the plays and was told quote "I am head coach I will call all plays".And being at the game, and a football fan of high school, college and pro's for 44 years, I think I can safely say if plan A isn't working go to plan B.Unfortunately there was no plan B.East would have been beaten ,in all probabilty, anyway but those kids should have had a fighting chance to put on a game prooving they had earned the right to be there. Hopefully this year will be a different story.
