As I previously stated, I went with what I would consider to be the safe choice when making my picks. For example, I understand that it is VERY difficult for anyone to finish the season undefeated, but I picked Portsmouth to go 10-0 based on a game-by-game assessment. Chances are that they, or anyone else for that matter, will slip up at some point during the season. But, rather than simply guessing at which team they will lose to, I chose to take what I believe to be a more logical approach to making these picks. There are many, many toss-up games that were difficult for me to pick. But I look at it like this: If I had to lay $1000 bucks down on the game, who would I pick to win?

I'll go ahead and provide some reasoning for some of the picks that I made.
Ironton @ Burg - the Pirates dominated Ironton last season and have let numerous wins slip through their fingers against the Tigers in recent years. Burg annually puts some of the best skill players in the area on the field. I expect this season to be no different.
Portsmouth Trojans - I know many of their skill players will be young (sophomores) but this could be the best class to pass through Portsmouth in MANY years! They will be lead by two D1 linemen in Prior and Cadogen.
Chillicothe Cavs - the Cavs have some very talented skill players but they have yet to prove that they can compete in the trenches with the better teams in the SEOAL. When you consider the brutal non-league tilt along with the league schedule that the Cavs have in front of them, the outlook can't be rosy!

I believe that Ironton will either be 10 or 9-1 with a loss to Logan. I can not see them losing to Wheelersburg this year I would say the score could be reverse of last years score. Ironton much stronger this year and Wheelersburg much weaker than last year to start the season.

Agree OSU77. Looks like a weaker league overall this year with the exceptions of Logan, Ironton,possibly Portsmouth(young) and maybe a surprise here or there.

The difference is the second tier, where Jackson/Portsmouth/Zanesville and possibly Marietta are going to be much better than Jackson/Ironton were last year.
At the bottom, no one will be as bad as Warren and Athens were last season.
I think it will be a much stronger season for the SEOAL from top to bottom.

I agree with Locos, better, deeper league this year. I did pick Chillicothe to go 3-7 but could see them at 6-4 as well. Their non league schedule is simply BRUTAL. Do not see them being able to beat Sheridan or Big Nut, or Logan in league play. But could slip by Brookhaven, and a few league games could go either way. Still see no better than 6-4. The bottom of the league will be much stronger this year. I think overall games will be much closer. Ironton will be very dangerous this year!

Chillicothe will not be a top tier team in the SEOAL this coming season. They have been hyped as one of the top teams in the league since they joined, but have never lived up to those expectations. In 2006 they dropped games to Marietta and Jackson and in 2007 they lost to Ironton, Zanesville and Portsmouth. Considering all of that, I'll hold off on placing them atop the pre-season standings for the upcoming season until they prove that they can win in the SEOAL on a weekly basis.
