I am still undecided on this game. I took Burg in the upset for 3 years and was wrong, so last year I switched to Ironton and burg won. This one get me every year. Ill wait for Maddog to post the Cal preps prediction before I decide.

Wheelersburg looked alright. defense was good (white is an animal) the offense struggled, but had some pretty good plays really need to work on the passing game, it will be really hard to run the ball all game. We need the pass to keep defenses of balance, we also need to keep the turn overs down way to many today. But for a 1st scrimmage not bad we didn't do very well in r 1st scrimmage last year and we had a good year so only time will tell.

I thought the offense was "less than stellar".

I went to the WB scrimmage and I did not see the "speed" I have heard so much about. Seemed to me that they couldn't get past the Piketon D-line. And they never even came close to scoring. Speed ain't gonna help ya none if ya can't get past the line. I would almost be willing to bet (but I am not a betting woman) if they couldn't get past Piketon's line they sure ain't getting past Ironton's.

I also hate to tell you Burg fans Murphy ain't all you got to worry about. Ya'll can focus on Murphy if ya want to but the others will get ya while you are watching him. Noone has even mentioned White, Cramblitt, Webb, Monnig, and Lamb
Go ahead and underestimate the Tigers, see what happens to ya. I can't wait for this game.

never get to high or to low on your team based on a scrimmage. 2 a days really take away kids legs so I don't think I would judge the burgs speed and quickness until they get there legs back in week 1.

Oh My did I get someone's dander up. Calm down boys  Just throwing some stuff out there. It is so funny how the Burgites can tout their team and say what they want about the Tigers but if a Tiger fan says something good about the Tigers we are the "Debul". It's ok guys we'll just wait to see what happens. You will be surprized

Go Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know 'Burg has some athletes back, but how is the line shaping up? I see some good size looking at last years returnees but there doesn't seem to be much after the first 5 or 6 kids. As for Ironton, they should be strong up front and have some fast backs, I look for them to make some major improvements this year. Overall, I'd say Ironton is the favorite but if the 'Burg can get an early lead and then use White to control the clock they have a legitimate chance for back to back wins.

I went up to the scrimage for a bit friday night. The defense looked good, white played well at lb, and I thought that lang looked good playing defense. The secondary just needs to be coached more, that takes time and is a lot about scouting. The offense did look pretty lack luster, but defense comes before offense, and you also have to remember that hopper (te) and shank (rb) are the only two returning starters on offense. It isnt easy to throw in a new signal caller and all new linemen.. theyl be ok. As for not having the speed that is advertised, the speed was clearly there last night on the defensive side and when the got to stretch their legs. Craigmiles is legit 4.5 40 and walker and shankweiler can both move at around 4.6.. I know there IS a difference between football and track speed, but these guys are explosive athletes. IF the holes are there and the scheme is good enough to keep people off balance then they will turn 5 yd gains into 20 plus ydrs. The key week 1 will be leadership, not getting frusterated early, and not turning the ball over. I dont think anybody from burg will EVER understimate Ironton, but "you are only as good as your last performance". Hopefully burg play well in a couple of fridays and we can pull out a W

Keith Wetzel is a JR 5'8 195 lb Fullback and a good one at that, I look for him to run the ball a little more this year than he did last season.

If W'burg plays this season like they did last night against Piketon they're in for a long season, as this is the worst I've ever seen them. In my scouting report, I counted 6 turnovers and two INTs went for a TDs. So I had it Piketon 14-0. Really, I thought Piketon did their best when they went straight at them as their D-line is small, but quick. They did get a few sacks but did also get burnt on a screen. W'burg also seems a little blitz happy and Piketon did get some big runs with the traps and counters. Ironton's bread and butter is smash mouth football and 'burg couldn't handle Piketon's brand of it, so in two weeks, it's gonna be a long night for the Pirates!
