Oh OK, you mean one game winning streak against Ironton, well say that the next time, instead of one game winnig(sic) streak. Well, in just over 48 hours it will be a 1 game losing streak for your Birates.

Gee, let me see, we are on a blog site talking about the Burg-Ironton game and the Burg won the game last year, so I thought it would be pretty self explanatory on what I was referring to, but evidentley it wasn't. That is why I typed it out R E A L S L O W for you. Obviously that didn't help.

What the hell is a Birate? I've heard of Bizrate, but never heard of Birates. Hasn't school started back for you yet this week. Does your teacher know you are goofing off in class on the computer?

R U serious. Burg fans talking smack. Just on this page 8 alone, out of 35 post only 3 legitimate Burg fans actually picked the Burg to win and the rest of the post are from Ironton posters predicting an ironton blowout. Give me a friggin' break. You morons did the same crap last year and then once the game was over all you heard was crickets chirping in Ironton. Just like last year, hardly any Burg fans were saying anything about the Burg possibly winning big becasue a true Burg fan knows that this is one of the toughest games on the sched year in and year out. One thing I will say though and this is not being cocky or arrogant, Burg expects to win this game and every game they play everytime they step on the field. The majority of the time if you go into a game thinking you are going to lose, you more than likely will. Burg players never have that attitude going into any game in any sport.

Thats funny, I thought they all disappeared after the blowout.

This is a great game to start the season but I for one hate all the hype. Its time to get down to business and show what you have on the field and the integrity you have before the game. Cut the bs!

But couldn't it also be 17-0 or 16-1 in favor of Ironton? Does it really matter what it could be as opposed to what it is?

Well that's what you get for assuming. And, you should probably go back to school so you can learn how to spell winning correctly. To answer your question, a Birate is what your mascot really is, ya know a Pirate stuck on a ship full of men. lol!

On a positive note... I am glad the Burg has stuck with this game, unlike some of the other schools Ironton has played or that have avoided us all together. This is a win-win for both schools. It is a measuring stick game and will bring a big gate and you don't have very far to travel! It feels like week #11 in week #1. After week #1 GO BURG!!!

GO TIGERS!!!

You know, I said I wasn't going to get into it with the Ironton people like last year and all be darned if I didn't, but man they have a way of getting under your skin and I think the reason behind it, at least with me, is that the majority of them give the Burg no respect and that just irks me to no end.

The record between the two in no way indicates how close of a game, other than a few years here and there, this game has been over the last 10 years. If you hear it told from the Ironton faithful, you would think that Itown has won this game going away every year that they have won, when in fact the majority of those games over that time frame haven't been decided until the 4th qtr. 2 years ago it came down to a late field goal with Ironton winning 24-21.. 3 years ago it came down to the last few minutes of the game, with Ironton pulling out a 7-6 win. 4 years ago, this game was tied at 0-0 at the half and Burg had some key injuries going into the 2nd half and that was the difference of that game. Ironton won 21-0 with one of the TD's coming late in the game. 5 years ago, Burg took a 10-0 lead into the half and then came out and changed their offensive gameplan and lost 22-10. My point is other than last years game and the game in 2001, this game has been a real nail biter right to the end.

I don't think this year will be any different.

2old wrote:I think tl85 is right. Losing a coach can make a big diffeerence and make a team suck (just using his words). I will give you another example:

Ironton changed coaches in 2006 and finished 6-5 (actually 5-5) since victories over Canada don't count with me)

Ironton changed coaches again in 2007 and finished 5-5.

Good thing they did not change coaches agsain in 2008.

So you are admitting that we are 11-10 in the last 2 years and not 11-11 like you keep saying? If you want to include that 1 loss from 2005 in the regional final in 3 OT vs. Bellaire, then you need to include the other 2 losses and 10 wins, but 21-13 doesn't sound as bad. It's only been 3 years since we were in the regional final, so when is the last time Logan was?

GO TIGERS!!!

Whatever that means, but I guess you have had some book learnin' haven't you. Pirates did spend most of their time on the sea, so you are knowledgeable in that regards and no I haven't seen all of the 7 seas.

Good luck Pirates Friday night. Here is to an injury free game

Yabba...most people "boasting" on here are either kids being kids or jock sniffer wannabes.
My take is,and you were right to say Wheelersburg, like Ironton steps on the field EVERY game expecting to win.I do beileve Ironton has this same mentality.Ironton fans aren't taking you guys lightly. It will be a good game.
I hope Ol Cookies dad saves me a seat on that floodwall.Or I guess I could wait on BamaMike to make a run to the potty and take his.
Hope Wheelersburg wins them all, after game 1.

Great post Hosscat. I couldn't agree with you more. As for the place on the hill, I used to stand over there but now sit in the stands. These old legs can't take the standing anymore.

Someone asked me about parking and I'm not for sure if they are going to allow parking at the new school. If they do, there should be plenty of parking over there, it will just be a long walk to the stadium. The good thing about parking over there though is that after the game you can go out towards the front of the school and exit onto Gleim road. Take a right out of the school and follow it past the cemetery and it will bring you right out on gallia pike. You will have to get back on Ohio River road and go back down to the highway through the Burg. The bridge is still out that runs over pine creek, right before you get into the Burg.

Ironton people will not want to take the first Wheelesburg exit becasue of that. The bridge is still out.

Talked to a friend of mine from wheelersburg and he states that we will be using the new parking lot also, should make plenty of room for some tailgating plans I have
