Man, the top teams in this Sectional seem to be flip-flopping more than the hottly debated Jackson Sectional, but for all the wrong reasons. I still think the top 4 teams in this Sectional are capable of knocking off anyone out of the Jackson Sectional on any given night, but it sure isn't pretty "on paper" at this point.

With roughly 12 hours until the draw, my final thought on the top 4 at Waverly looks like this:

1) Eastern Brown
2) Peebles
3) Huntington
4) Piketon

I had Piketon at the 2 before tonight's loss, and I still think they deserve it, but I've got a feeling the loss to CHSA coupled with Huntington's 2 wins over the Streaks will put them 4th. With Northwest having played Peebles head-to-head this year, that game might carry the day and keep them in the 2 slot.

I'm not trying to make excuses for any of the teams, but I think the Friday & Saturday games are a little tough on the boys. No recoupment time after they have played really hard on Friday night to turn around and do it again on Saturday. Not a fan of this scheduling. I think games should go back to Tuesdays and Fridays.

I said that because they were very flat for whatever reason totally different from the night before, yes tough to play back to back especially after an emotional win the night before but if thats what the schedule says then you have to get up for it. They did shoot well but then again when your shooting layups with nobody stopping penetration or getting back on d its a little easier to keep the % up, we tried zoning them and they were able to keep finding holes in it for easy baskets, they did make some 3's but nobody was jumping out into their faces. Not taking anything away from Cvsa they played well had a couple of really nice players the Blount Kid had 26 against Ironton earlier in the yr. and played them even for 3 quarters. Pretty sure the coaches felt the same way, with what I heard coming out of the timeouts coach was screaming no more layups.

I agree...Piketon had a very pressure packed emotional game Friday Night...hard to gauge what happened Saturday. The radio announcers sounded as if Piketon had nothing left for a quick athletic team that just kept taking it to them. Coach Lisath said in his post game show at 13-5 he could argue the #2 seed, but since they couldn't get it done, let the chips fall where they may. I wonder what the SVC Coaches will do with their first place Redstreaks? Although the swing vote would go to Northwest who got drilled by Peebles. Would love to be there to see what coaches would man up and forget what league you're in but take into consideration what is written on the board or the handout (not sure how its done) The rules of the draw does include strength of schedule to my understanding according to the radio announcers last night.

How can there be justification for seeding Piketon above Huntington when they have identical records and HHS won both meetings. On another note, I think the Huntsmen would probaby want the four instead of the three.

talked to a few of the svc coaches last night after the piketon game several were at the huntington game, I know Huntington wants to avoid westfall, Westfall is a scary team with all their size especially if your not a pressing team, and they were all joking around but the idea came out hey just drop me down low and we will take our chances with playing the 1 out of wavery sect. and try to get out of the sectional that way to avoid the Peake and Ports. they laughed about it but im thinking in the back of my mind hmm that really doesnt sound to far fetched.

Hard to justify for sure.....to me looking at the whole sectional is the only way....looking head-to-head you really can't.

What seed 1-4 avoids the Jackson sectional teams the longest? The #1 seed avoids until the district finals I thought....who would 2-4 face in the semis?

Probably because piketon is ahead of them in the league, Huntington has really stumbled coming down the stretch in league play losing a couple of games to teams they shouldnt have. But with Unioto playn SE. Monday and Piketon having to go to ZT next friday still has a chance to get a share of the league.

Strategy-wise for best chance to go the longest....it's good.

Grabbing the #8/#9 seed....you would have to win that game and then beat Eastern Brown just to get to the Convo...and then face a Wellston or Southeastern type of team and then probably Valley....this would be a tough tough sectional final to then face a very tough Valley team.

Playing it as they should the trip to the district semis would be way easier....but then the district semi would be tougher

What it boils down to is its just going to be a hard road to get out of the district period, stranger things have happened and thats why they play the game, lady luck needs to be kind and you have to play your best ball, would have been a good yr to either import a few students to jump up to d2 or lose a few to drop to d4 lol.

Wow

Piketon will see Portsmouth in the district semis....Huntington gets Chesapeake barring any upsets.

Nelsonville will see Valley

The winner of Adena/Westfall in the sectional and Belpre in the district semis if they beat their lower seeded opponent in the sectional finals.
