Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
Gallia Academy will make it a 4-peat this year as they have a very solid team once again. Seniors Brandon Taylor, Zack Tackett, and Aaron Guisinger should pick up individual championships. Juniors Briggs Shoemaker, Mark Allen, and Freshman Cole Tawney all look very promising as well. many of the other wrestlers should be able to place very high. Looks like its going to be another League title for Gallia Academy this year!
Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
My guess is this goes to Gallia with Logan a close 2nd, followed by Warren Local. Gallia has to many horses however Logan is up and coming and will push for the title a good day and Logan may surpise people.

Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
Have seen all the SEOAL teams with the exception of Logan. The above post hit it spot on. Gallia has too many horses. Logan may give them a tough time of it at some weight classes, can't say for sure on this. But Gallia and coach Sims get another league banner this year. IMO
Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
I think this is gallia academy's tourney to lose. I did not feel this way until the last week or 10 days. Before then i really liked Logan. This tourney will be much closer then a lot of people think. But if Gallia Academys wrestlers wrestle to their potential they should come out on top. Gallia forfeits points in 2 weight classes but there is a good chance warren takes first in those. Gallia has 2 other weight classes held by freshman that will probably be over matched. Two more weight classes held by young wrestlers finding their own. So that means in most of the other 8 weight classes gallia has to dominate. One or two slip ups and it will either be a bad day for Gallia and Logan will win.

Gallia starts 3 freshmen and forefits 2 classes, it will be a tough day, but my money is still on Gallia as they will have several wrestlers in it at the end of the day.seems like not much middle ground with them they either win the weight class or arent in it at all

Gallia starts 3 freshmen you are right but one of them forgets he is a freshmen Tawney has wrestled above the level all year he has had several quality wins this year.

Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
I understand Gallia has 3 freshman, but as someone else pointed out one of them does not wrestle like a freshman. And i don't necessarily mean that as a bad thing. Sometimes with freshmen though the season gets long. But i don't think that will be the case here it might be just the opposite. My point was the two forfeited weight classes and the 2 freshmen might not score gallia many points. Also they are going to struggle at 2 other weight classes. The whole point of my post was. Gallia will struggle or not have a wrestler at 6 weight classes. So they needed to dominate in other weight classes or it could fall into logans hands. And to be honest with you with Warren now filling 10 weight classes this could be a three team race. But for Warren to be there they would need either jackson or chillicothie to win some of their open weight classes.
The reason why i liked logan up until last 10 days is i didn't think Gallias strong weight classes. Could out score logans entire team. What has changed my mind is i think Gallia will get enough wins out of the 2 freshmen and the other 2 weight classes to hold onto the league title. Because that is what it will come down to. is how well those second level kids perform.

Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
Never know when two wrestlers might flip flop weights lol Maybe not just to win but maybe to keep someone else from winning seen it several times over the last 8 or 9 years
Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
Mullins quit a little after the Athens Belpre tri. Said he "just didn't like wrestling that much any more" Waugh is done for the season with torn tendons in his foot. Sowers is probably done for the season (concusion / vertigo issues) and Queen is still recovering from the broken collar bone. At this point we really aren't sure what the line-up will be in two weeks, but the ones who are there will be ready to wrestle hard, leave it all on the mat, and make a run at the title.
Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
it is so hard to predict what will happen at leagues because some wrestlers will change weight classes and so but going weight class by weight class. i think maybe Logan may score more pints then gallia can cover by filling all 14 weight classes. part of the problem is the 2 weight classes gallia doesn't fill. 106 and 113. there will probably be only 2 wrestlers in each weight class. so the worse the Logan wrestlers will finish is second.
i have logan winning 120,126,152, and finishing 2nd at 106,113,145,170,195,220,285
i have gallia winning 145,170,195,220,285 and finishing 2nd at 120,132,160,182
i have chillicothie winning 132,160 and finishing 2nd at 138
i have warren winning 106,113,138,182
i have jackson finishing 2nd at 126 and 152.
so now i am back to thinking this is logans to,lose and gallias tourney to find a way to win. i see chillicothie finishing 3rd. it would only take gallia tourney around two of these weight classes to switch the totals. so it will be interesting. one of the things i think we will see is logan playing with some weight classes and one of those will be vanbibber dropping to 120 to beat tawney and hope there other wrestler is good enough to carry the week 126 weight class. a tawney win. or the other teams making logan pay for change at 126 may come down to deciding who wins. also gallia could gain some points at 138 and 152. where i have them finishing 4th in each weight class even if these two just finish 3rd. it could happen. no matter what as long as everyone gets through this week healthy it should be an exciting day at logan in about 10 days.
my guess is one team will get off to a hot start in first or second round and other team will press a little and not be able to catch up.
see everyone at warren in 11 days.

quote" one of the things i think we will see is logan playing with some weight classes and one of those will be vanbibber dropping to 120 to beat tawney"
I have been around these Gallia boys for a long time coached most of them at one time or another and I can tell you I hope they drop Vanbibber to 120. Tawney has very impressive wins this season that were not flukes- Parson from Warren is one and Jackson from Athens is the other he has started for the Devils all season and has been top notch so if they think they are gonna pick out our freshmen-- go ahead other teams thought the same thing. At 182 Tackett has already beat Harlow once this season nothing changes there. Parsons ownes the 113 class. Barr from Jackson will be a handful if he is at 152 or 160 he has one speed wide open and he can go at it for the full 6 minutes
1. Gallia Academy
2.Logan
3.WARREN
4.Chillicothe
5.JACKSON

Vanbibber was at 120 this past weekend at Groveport. So don't take it personal if he is there next weekend!Mighty Mighty Devils wrote: have been around these Gallia boys for a long time coached most of them at one time or another and I can tell you I hope they drop Vanbibber to 120.
Re: S.E.O.A.L. Who wins it
I wish I could say Jackson would be a factor but we will finish 5th because of the numbers. Gallia will be to much and will take the title home. There program from youth up is the best supported wrestling program in the league and it will show. I see several district qualifiers at gallia as well as a few state qualifiers and placers. See everyone the 11th.

Not taken personal we hope he is there The Gallia Academy wrestling team is kinda what you see is what you get, no moving, no game playing, no plotting with other teams,nybucks70-80 wrote:Vanbibber was at 120 this past weekend at Groveport. Logan always seems real strong at the middle school level but drops off some when they get up in the higher grades.
I know a couple boys didn't go out so they could heal from football
