dazed&confused,
What is really funny is if you knew most of us --- we don't take things that seriously. Please don't take "the past" into consideration because we really prefer it that way.

Irontigermum --- Oh come on , you are already in. We have been in trouble together before. :122246

"Michigan leads the overall series with Ohio State and dominated the Buckeyes in the 90s. Think the present day Buckeyes are in awe of Michigan?" ---
My father taught me better than to use those words. The Bucks don't discount the team up North, like you are discounting the Tigers.

I hope nobody takes it too seriously but what I've seen from some of the posters from both sides makes me wonder. My son plays for Logan; that's where my interest comes from for this series. But I enjoy all the games, not just against Ironton. You guys should be proud of your past. But we all need to remember this is a game and these athletes are teenagers. If Logan loses, I'll get up the next morning and go on about my life. Some of these guys on here will agonize over it for years. Guess I've just been a Brown's fan too long to take it that serious.

One last thing. I just wanted to clear this up. The term being thrown around was "Awe". I respect Ironton like OSU respects Michigan. Please see the definitions below:

Awe is an emotion comparable to wonder.[1] However whilst we say that we feel wonder at the rainbow we do not say we feel in awe of the rainbow. In general awe is directed at objects considered to be more powerful than the subject.[2] For example, a commonly identified object that inspires awe is the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Awe is defined in Robert Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions[3] as a combination of surprise and fear.

Respect is one of the most (if not the most) important attributes for society to maintain, yet it is hard to define. On its broadest level respect is the acknowledgment that someone has value.
-Wikipedia.

I do not think Logan or Ironton "fear" one another.

I don't think anyone is discounting the Tigers.

My only issue is the fact that I don't believe Tiger fans have any respect for Logan. You see EVERY Logan poster, even old 2old, complimenting and praising Ironton's success for the last 3 decades. We've all said we'd LOVE to have that kind of track record.

But you don't see anyone from Ironton saying much good about Logan. It's always:

"Well, you're bigger"

"Where's your state championship?"

"Look at the all-time series"

Etc, etc, etc.

Logan respects Ironton, and looks forward to playing Ironton.

I don't get the same feeling from the Ironton posters on this forum. They general expect to win, and then get defensive (and sometimes downright nasty) when they don't.

I didn't use the word "awe", 2old did. Trust me most of the people I know that post on here are having a good time, there are a few tooo serious people. Maybe it is a good lesson for teenagers. Life goes on and on after a friday night football game.
I don't think athletes should be badmouthed on here. That is a rule.We are Browns fans at our house - I feel your pain. My son continues to be a Browns fan but with Tank Whaley becoming a Cincinnati Bengal,I just may have to go over to the "dark side".

Don't do it mouths better half. Don't be drawn into that dark depressed world of building a team and then trading guys in their prime to better football teams. NO! NO! NO! Just kidding. GO Browns!

d&c, I knew there was a reason that your posts made since, it's the Brown influence.

As far as this topic goes, at least on this thread things have been amicable for the most part unlike on other thread. I think, from an outsiders POV, that both teams' fans really do respect the other team but just really want to beat them. Logan wants to beat Ironton just like every SEOAL team to show that this league is much different than in the "old days". Heck they whipped everyone. Ironton wants to beat the pants off Logan b/c they haven't since rejoining and Logan is the champ, to be the champ you must beat the champ. Both programs are full of pride.

Now as far as reliving the past and using history to our advantage, I think we all do that and attempt to do it when the history shows that we have the upper hand. Let's face it Ironton's rich history is and may never be repeated in our league. On the other hand Logan is trying to win one for the thumb this year. Both points are in the past and both teams are 0-0 this season and right now the score is still tied for this game. If posters don't know Ironton's history then they aren't too much of a hs football fan and if they don't know Logan's recent success then they need to get in touch with the SEOAL. As for respect, if it wasn't there then why are we already talking about a game this far in advance when both have huge rival games so early in the year??? Not to mention the way supporters of both teams have gone at it already. Can't we all just get along, at least until game week?? lol

Please don't switch to that dark side,, support Tank but not the team with the name on the stadium that was a true Brown. :?

I'm getting off topic but don't go to the Bengals. I always said that I am going to live to see the Browns win a Super Bowl. If nothing else, I should live a very long life. :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24

PS-
My son is a Steelers fan but I still love him.......Mostly.

O.K. I'll keep my Browns wear. But, I will buy a jersey with Tank's # on it. I'm not saying I will wear it.
Ironton plays tough teams year in and out. We like the competition and we want to play up because in the playoffs there will be bigger schools and better teams. Coach Lutz has always thought we should push ourselves to be better. I agree.
I think Ironton fans respect Logan but, Ironton fans believe in winning too. We always believe we can win no matter what the circumstances. We tell our athletes that too. Arrogance - maybe - but grow up here and it is as natural as the air we breathe ( cough, cough ).

good point mbh, nobody likes to be told they "can't win". We all know we need to just show up and play hard, nobody wants the kids to see lack of faith in the team. Bottom line is that neither team has any reason to bad mouth the other nor does either team have reason to discredit the others ability to win this game this year. History isn't going to be the 12th man on either side. I know that Lutz and Amyx will have their boys ready to bite nails come gametime and will each show up ready to put a W on the board.

JC: I'll sure do it. He will appreciate the support from you! Thank you! He has a good buddy in Phil Bokovitz from your neck of the woods, and has a soft spot for the old coach. We go way back.

mum,

those Boks are good people all around. I'm sure I am not the only one locally pulling for lil ITM, if he can be called lil ITM. He is with a good program that will provide him with a very solid foundation to enter life's journey. Safe traveling to you this season.
