RUSSELL GRID-O-RAMA
Saturday Aug. 16th at 10am
Russell JFL Field

EVENT:
The Russell 5/6th grade team will host a GRID-O-RAMA on Aug. 16th at 10am. This will be a round-robin style of play with all teams being able to participate against everyone. The field will be divided into 3 fields going from sideline to sideline. This will allow 6 teams to be on the field at one time, there will also be a running clock of 15 minutes to end each session. Each team will be allowed 10 offensive plays then will switch to defense. After a complete session one team will move on to play the next team. Each team will be able to play 5 teams in one rotation. Teams who do not start on the field will be rotated in at the end of sessions. The event will continue until all teams have played each other to their satisfaction. Coaches will be on the field with their team.

ADMISSION: Gate admission will be $2 for adults and $1 for students. Children under 7 are free. Bring your chairs!! We do have bleachers but not enough for 14 teams.

CONCESSIONS: Our concession stand will be in full swing with water, gator-aid and pop along with hotdogs, hamburgers, nachos and candy.

ATTRACTIONS: There will be a PUNT-PASS and KICK competition for kids who played in the scrimmages. Each team will be able to have their kids compete in each division. Winners will receive a trophy for first place. For the younger kids and adults we will have INFLATABLES to have fun with.

I work with one of the moderators on this site and did not even know it until I posted and then asked him about it. I guess us old guys never grow out of the seasonal itch, problem is my season itch never goes away... Football per say, not anything contagious.....really it is not contagious.

Great time and a great day for football.
Teams played well, good look at the season and where to learn from.
Over-all it was a great day.....
Thanks to all the team sthat did show and congrats on the winners of the Punt, Pass and Kick Championship.

Devil sorry we didnt get to come but we had games that had already been rescheduled twice. All of my players and parents were chomping at the bit to come down but TSYFL started it's exhibition season yesterday and these are huge fundraisers for our leagues plus tuneups for the regular season. If this had been 1 week earlier I bet you would have been loaded with TSYFL teams specifically Fairland, Chesapeake, and South Point. Maybe even a few of the Wayne and Cabell county teams. This was a great idea and I wish we could have been there. Please keep us and mind and fyi, TSYFL exhibition season usually starts the 3rd weekend in Aug so the second week is open for all our teams. I don't know how this works or conflicts with your season but just something to think about. Once again sorry and remember even if you just made a few bucks ,it had to be fun to have a day of football, kids, and games going on. Good luck the rest of the year.

Great responses people,,, I will be able to get information to you guys easier now that I am on here. The coaches wish to thank all that showed and supported this time and I am thinking there might be something in the works for a Tri-State Championship Game. This could be played at KCU or if Marshall would host it...????
Anyway it is great to have Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia all working together to promote Youth Football.

I understand about not being able to be here. The TSYFL just happen to have its pre season scrimmage the same day.
Here is a link to the 6th grade schedule, if there is an open date in there. I am sure that it can be worked out to play somefootball.

http://www.russell-ind.k12.ky.us/reddev ... hedule.htm

If it works out for you, please let me know and I will set it up.... I know that the coaches would love to scrimmage rather than practice.

Thanks again for great day.

It sems to me that there was a good turn out, maybe you should talk to the people that were running this and find out that the list that was on here was an open invite. There were some teams listed that told the russell folk that they had prior obligations!Thank you for the offer, but we could not attend, maybe next year!

Its alright.... I know that some had prior engagements and could not be there. And I know that other things comeup... This was the first one and I know that the coaches tried hard to get it done right the first time. I would say that they will do beeter next time.
