Trooper,

I have been trying to find out some information on Jordan Thornsberry who moved in the Eastern District and haven't had any luck.

How good is he? Where would he have fit into this rotation had he stayed?

Thanks.

I wouldn't go down that road. He didn't stay so there is no need with speculation.

Guard play will be the biggest ???? this year. They had guards that could play ball last year (proved it as Juniors) so I'm not totally convinced guards were the sole problem last year.

The first 5 listed there may be on the floor allot together. No real true point guard in those 5 but whatever gets the job done.

One name not on the list is Kevin Malone. He is a hard-nosed, in your face defender.

Biggest problem this team will face this year is they are in a league that is tougher than it has been in a long time.
Guard play will be important for the Tigers! But, we better be tough in the post also- we did lose a lot of points from the paint.
They may try to get by this year with the guards they have until the "true" point guards arrive(however long that takes).
What worries me is the fact that there is no post players after this year. 6'3"-kids are good on the wing but not underneath.

Does Waverly have some outstanding guards in the jr. high? I think Blanford, Remy and Kelly will do fine. With the scoring threat that Martin,Roback , Kretzer and the exchange student have they just need someone to get them the ball without turning it over. Do you thlnk the point guard has to average 20 points a game?

No the point guard does not have to average 20 a game- but it sure would be nice to see improvement over last year. You must remember the Head Coach was an all-state point guard in high school so he should be able to develope a good one.

With thornsberry moved to Eastern Pike, guard play will be the question for the Tigers. It should be an interesting first round matchup in the Holiday classic!

Blanford and Remy have outstanding athleticism (although they don't play football) but they will apply the defensive pressure. Kelly likes to put it up, they just need a combination of talent from the three of them.

i think "z" (harrison martin) and derek roback should be the team leaders....harrison needs more confidence and roback needs to become a little more unselfish....

What about Tyler Martin? Doesnt he fit into the rotation anywhere this year or does he need a year on the JV squad? The main thing for young players is to play minutes and not sit the bench on the varsity.

I guess my question was, when does real practice start for EVERYONE. Football and soccer is over at Waverly so how much "rest" do they give the football players who just finished Friday? Does it start today?

I just found the answer to my question. "Coaching" can't begin until November 10, per OHSAA rules.

I'm not really sure how many games you watched last season, but Roback wasn't selfish on the basketball court. From reading that post and the ones you've made on the football forum about Derek Roback, it sounds like you have an agenda.
