Logan-2

They tie for 3rd place in the SEOAL.

I heard Jackson and Gallia tied for 5th.

Chilli and Maritta to play Thursday for championship.

Athens won a regional semi-final in 2002 and qualified for the regional final after the switch to three divisions.

Good catch soccerfanatic. Didn't mean to slight Athens. I forgot about that one. That was a great accomplishment. I actually got to watch that regional game when they played vs. Desales.

In looking at that year though, the Southeast District champion got a break in that they didn't have to face a Central District opponent (as they do now) in the regional semi-final.

Athens played a team from the East (Philo) who had a record of 8-10-1. Not too stellar. Athens (18-1-1) then got pounded pretty good 6-0 by a Desales team that had 3 losses and 4 ties. Just the huge difference in the level of play between the districts. I think the gap has narrowed a bit since then, but not much.

Nowadays its really tough for the D2 teams of the Southeast. I don't know who gets to decide it, but the Central District's top seed always gets matched up with the Southeast District winner. Shouldn't this rotate every once in a while?

Here is what that has meant for the SE Dst D2 winner over the past 4 years.

Central District Top Seed:
2008: Desales State-Ranked #1 ???
2007: Desales State-Ranked #1 Final 4
2006: Bexley State-Ranked #4 Final 4
2005: Bexley State-Ranked #3 State Champion

If the SE Dst winner could put together a strong enough squad to get passed that first regional game they might be able to make a serious run at the title.

Zanesville and Jackson tied 2-2 in the fifth place game in the SEOAL DOC.

They will split the points as far as the All-Sports trophy is concerned.

Bucknuts....WOW...are you kidding me!!!! FU`s schedule strength was only 3 percentage points different than Chilly`s and you are ragging on their schedule. None of the teams in the Southeast could win the MSL.
This is all fun and everything, but the good thing is it can be proven on the field in the next couple weeks. Good Luck to all. Whoever wins the Southeast, we will chear them on all the way through.

Smeltzy, never said Chilly or any other SE Dst team had a great schedule. Fact is they are all pretty weak compared to other area's of the state. Fairfield Union has a weak schedule, facts are facts. And for the record there are at least 6 Southeast District teams that could have won the MSL this year. Canal is tough, all others very beatable. Do you want to really debate FU's schedule?

Came in with 11 wins...here are the teams they got 9 of those wins against.

Fisher Catholic 3-9-3
Logan Elm 1-12-1
Amanda 3-6-2
Maysville 3-7-2
Whitehall 2-8-1
McClain 2-12-1
Circleville 5-8-1
Groveport 2-9-2
Alexander 3-8-2

Their other 2 wins came against a 7-4-3 Wash CH team and a 6-5-2 Librty Union team. The only 2 tems they beat who had a winning record. There was no conspiracy by the other coaches when seeding FU, they were just being honest when looking at the team's overall resume and not just the W/L record.

first off, i think it will be VERY tough for fu to win the district...most of these kids have never been that far and dont know how high the stakes get.

now i want bucknut to name the 6 teams that could have won the msl and i wanna know how you came up with that?

Chilli, Logan, Athens, Marietta, Warren, Jackson...all could win the MSL. better question what MSL team could win the SEOAL because the regional rep for the SE district has came from that league for at least a decade if not longer.

athens??? really? they tied alexander...comeon!

the msl only has what 3 teams in the league who are in the se..

im not saying fu is going to win the district..i think itd be a stretch to think they will. But they are a good team and just dont get any respect for it. athens has won it many times and has had some GREAT teams, they beat fu in the finals a few years back and they were a great team. Chilli handed it to us a couple years ago, they too are a quality team. im not saying any of the teams you mentioned arent great teams but i just think fu should get some respect. you guys dont see them so you dont, i guess thats understandable too. be fun to watch the D2 district play out, alot of quality games to be played!

Marietta plays Chilly for the SEOAL Title Thursday.

South Point tied Burg 1-1. Burg scored in the last 21 seconds. SP played awesome without two of the better players who were sitting out their red cards. We also played three girls the whole game so I think that says a lot about how good the girls are and how hard the Pointers played. SP only dressed 15 kids total today!
