Re: bills;hornets,scrimmage
The hornets definately looked better. With Tanner Dolen stiff arming his way to a touchdown and Tanner Murphy running in another and gaining many yards during the scrimmage. Shawn Paulis seems to be able to catch anythiing thrown his way. Hornets definately have the best QB in the league in Jessie Rigsby as far as A teams go for sure, and is doing very well playing defense as well making a couple of sacs. Then you can't forget the line defense and offense. Those boys can really get through the line on defense. Cody Newhouser got 2 sacs during the scrimmage and a fumble recovery. Tanner D. and Tanner M. were eatin up on defense. All of the horents A Team boys seem to be playing to their full potential this year....Super Bowl anyone???

I seem to have hit a nerve as far as our QB goes. I was simply restating what I have heard from the other boys on the team. They are backing each other 100%. I think it's a great thing that they have teamwork enough to build up each others self esteem. You can ask any of them who the best {insert position} is and I guarantee you it will be what ever boy is playing that position for the grove.

Russell plays you guys first round at the Orange Bowl this weekend, as far as I know until the Ironton teams pulled out, now I dont know if it is going to be the same. I hope to find out soon as we need to know when and who we play. But as of now it will be the Russell Maroon team you played Saturday at our grid.
Good luck this weekend and see you guys.

Don't jump the gun with the best QB ib the league. You should probaly take a real good look at the other kids before saying he is the best. This same group of boys were predicted to win it all two years ago but a team from on top of the hill was always in their way.

That's just my opinion. We are all entitled. It's not the "same group of boys" this year. There are some returning, but there are new boys out there too. They are really working well together. You shouldn't get ahead of yourself though, that "Hill" aint to big to conquer.

Re: bills;hornets,scrimmage
The youth football league Super Bowls are most often won by the teams with THE best player. I thought this was the case last year as both Symmes Valley teams by far had the best A team and B team player. I know it's a team sport but that's just how it goes most of the time. With that said, who will be the single best player in A team and B team this year leaguewide?

I would like to be able to take a look at all the kids in the league before i make my opinion known. We all know that kids at this age change so much from year to year,it would be hard to predict who it would be .BWH Maybe since u were on the field for several years maybe you could give your picks.

My problem is that I don't know all the kids that well. The kid who played for SV A team last year was a 6th grader and will move on. The good player for the SV B team will be a 5th grader and I would think it tough to dominate as a 5th grader in a league with 6th graders.

lilhornetmom,i thought by reading your earlier post that you had already made your mind up at least on the a-team level.

I just made it known what I think of our boys. We do have a great team this year. Our boys are really supporting each other and have each others backs. I think all the grove players are great, I'm partial, lol. I can't pick just one to be the best.

Re: bills;hornets,scrimmage
To start out i'll list a few that i think are right there together; The 5th grader u mentioned is the Craft kid from sv,he could possibly still dominate with his speed. The bills had a really big kid move in from russell that could be a force,Oh always brings some tough kids out of the woodwork,if i remember correctly i think that they will have a good kid at the qb spot this year.cg,they will have a good team and alot of really good kids =,sounds like the rigsby kid is their man.rh has no kid that really seperates themself from the others, just alot of overall team speed.eagles good size on the line and very strong, they should have a couple of good backs also. As you can tell from my post i think that the league will be very even this year good luck to all the boys and have a safe season.

Re: bills;hornets,scrimmage
The big Russell kid that plays for the Bills, still goes to school at RUSSELL, just plays football in Ironton.
This is a rumor from today at work.
Is it common to hold back straight A students to build a program.???
It is very frowned upon here and you are not allowed to play down if you fail. It would seem that if a kid failed school and needed to be held back,,,,FOOTBALL would be the last thing to be worried about and as a parent I would worry about my kid passing!!! I do know for a fact that the RUSSELL team that scrimmaged last Saturday had all 5/6th graders on it and NOT 1 KID was in 6th grade last year.
They have no hold backs.....
I was in conversation today at work and this issue came up about kids being held back. I was just wondering if this is true???? Someone else had made a comment of kids being held back that make A's. I don't see this happening becasue the school board would have to be involved and I do not see any school board allowing this to happen. At least I hope not.

RH has a great back that is tough. he is an athlete and shoudl be a force to be reckoned with. Their QB is tougher than nails too.
