I think that the o.v.c. rule on age is 13 after aug.1st,which goes along with the ohsaa rules.I will tell my people on the date,I wasn't sure on the blackbowl.Devilologist, have you spoken with anyone about the marshall field? If not we still have the one venue that we spoke of earlier,I'm sure that it will be availible! As far as the weight we could weigh them previous to the game,by that time the coaches should know who will be running the ball, just weigh the kids that will be running the football;real simple, not much time involved!

Which means you have to be 12 as of August 1.. RIGHT !!!! You can not turn 13 before August 1st and play......
I have a friend whos kid plays in the TSYFL !! So I will try to find out..
Weighing in on game day is a good idea too. Just have the kids who are elligible to run . ends, receivers RB and QB to weigh in. You can put a small sticker on the helmet if they are able to run the ball... Just a thought.

Are we going to make it a playoff system or what.. How does the format work???
1. Top 2 teams from each division go to the playoffs.
2. Best 2 teams get BYES the first round.
3. Leaves 4 teams to play the first round. 2 games with the winners moving on to the next round. Those 2 teams will play the best 2 teams who had byes. The winners from these 2 games play for the Tri-State Youth Football Championship.
This rounds out to be a 3 day event total. So what do you think about this.
1 Site for the first round= 2 games playing......... 1 site for the second round= 2 game playing..... 1 BOWL SITE for the championship......

The team with the best record could host the first round as they do not have to play..... That way everyone gets to watch their kid play. And the host team could focus on HOSTING.....

The second round could be a toss up. But should be someone still in the tourney....
So I would say that if you are still in the tourney,,, your school is willing to host..the next round....
Now granted RH and CG have turf as do SP..... So these places would be nice to do if it is nasty out side.

Here is a thought..
A referee from each league will work the championship game.....

Give me your thoughts on this.

I will have to run this by my people and see if they would be willing to do this with only hosting 2 games.there is alot that goes into this as you very well know, and for 2 games i'm not certain that they would want to do all the work that comes with this.

We do this for ONE game.....
Just look at this, it gives you 4 teams with admission and concession. Yea you will only make money for those 2 games but it is better than NO GAMES....
I would have to say that RUSSELL would host first round. We run everything for one game for all our games..
Like I said, Russell does not have turf but we do have a field and concessions.
If by chance we are the BYE team, we would host the first round. That gives us another 2 home games for our program.....
Unless someone else steps up for the hosting.. Russell could do the first one if nobody does..... So in review.
Russell hosts first round of Tri-State Championship.
Team 1 Bye
Team 2 Bye

Team 3 plays team 6
Team 4 plays Team 5. ROUND 1 play off at Russell

Team 1 plays winner of Team 4-5
Team 2 plays winner of Team 3-6 Round 2 play off at _____________

Team A
Team B for the Championship at ______________________

I think we will stick to this format,I think that it is fine.I really don't care where we play, like I said i'll talk to the folks and see what they have to say!I think as far as the bye goes we should take the superbowl winner of o.v.c. and the winner of the turfbowl, and whatever the kentucky teams play in and have a coin flip for the 2 byes.I don't think that the kentucky guys play in a league so how would you want to determine who would get the shot at the bye?

Well Russell won the Orange Bowl and currently are 6-0. I would say that if the DEVILS go undefeated in their regular season, they should get a bye. I am just talking that the two top teams should get a bye,, determining how those 2 teams are picked should be discussed also.
POints scored total+ ___________
Points Against total-____________
Total points or win perentage can be determined also.

What do you think about that.. As far as that goes you can have 3 games and do it this way.

Kentucky 1 against TSYFL 2
TSYFL 1 Against OVC 2
OVC 1 against Kentucky 2.

All would be first round games and then go from there
Now you have three teams to go forward....3 teams... so someone is getting a bye how ever you look at it.

What ways can we work this out.????
Need to look at formatting the rounds as to make sure they are good.

DO AGREE THAT WE SHOULD TRY TO LAY THIS OUT SO THAT EACH AND EVERY GAME WILL BE AS COMPETETIVE AS POSSIBLE.SAYING THIS IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO DO SO SINCE WE WON'T SEE EACH OTHER PLAY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.I THINK WE CAN GO WITH THE LAST FORMAT THAT YOU LAYED OUT AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED.AS FAR AS THE TEAM THAT GETS TO PLAY ONE GAME AND BE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP(DUE TO THE BYE)THE DETAILS TO THAT WILL HAVE TO BE WORKED OUT.IF YOU GO ON POINTS AGAINST OR POINTS SCORED WE WILL BE FORCING A TEAM TO TRY TO EMBARASS ANOTHER GROUP OF YOUNG MEN.I KNOW THAT NEITHER ONE OF US WANT IT TO COME DOWN TO THAT.IN THE O.V.C. IF YOU COME DOWN TO A TIE IN REGULAR SEASON THEY FLIP A COIN TO DETERMINE SEEDS.WITH 3 TEAMS BEING LEFT,FLIP THE COINS AND THE ODD TEAM GETS THE BYE??????????JUST TRYING TO THROW SOMETHING OUT THERE.HOW WILL WE DETERMINE THE SECOND TEAM FROM KENTUCKY?

put the teams from the different leagues in seperate hats, draw them out and seed them like that. While not scientific about as fair as you can get when you're not sure about each other and the level each league plays at. Just a suggestion.

We've got people involves from all angles how about we get together and pull this together. We can meet up and put the final pieces to the puzzle together.we've got a few differnet ideas to toss around,I think we're close enough now to finish the deal!I know that there are several places that will be willing to host the games, and several teams that want to be crowned!!!!

Agreed !!!
lets look at meeting sometime soon. I will check with the 6th grade coach and see what he thinks, But I am sure that he will be there. If we get the league president from OVC and the TSYFL we can get this done in an hour...
I am thinking BW3's in Ironton would be a nice place to go and discuss.
Lets set a time and date fellers.
Oh by the way..... nice hick accent in your typing - On a Mission !!!!
I feel right at home here.......

I like the comment about the accent. You might want to contact gogrove9 if you want this to go through the league.I think he/she can steer you in the right direction with contact numbers. As far as the meeting time, the sooner the better!I think BW'S would be fine with everyone. We should also have as many of the coaches present as possible to discuss the lay out of the rules, just in case they don't agree with any of the particulars that have been set forth so far.We could have open discussion and possibly change it up a little, but as far as I'm concerned I like they way it is now. WAT BOUT THAT THAR AK :aaaaa57 SENT FUR YA!!!!! :aaaaa5

Do we need to see if the champs from the Nelsonville York league would be willing to travel to the River Bowl?

Thats up to everyone here.. I dont care who plays in it but it comes down to 2 from each division.. 2 from KY, 2 from OVC and 2 from TSYFL. NOW if you add another division to the mix you get a total of 8 teams and a great play off system.... Just a thought......

I think when inviting teams we should keep in mind the number due to the length of time it will take to complete the tourny.we have to remember that alot of these kids also play b-ball,and we don't want to interfere with the start of the season.Just a little food for the brain.

I agree thats why I asked if we wanted to do that???? I dont care to have alot of teams but you can not make it too big.. If you added more divisions you would only take the top team from each and that defeats the purpose of the BOWL.....
I am okay with the divisions we have now...... How about everyone else????
