Aww...It's a perpetual banter between the two sports yet one of the first places football coaches will go to find their best kickers is gonna be on the soccer field. :122249

In case anyone is still interested, I got my hands on Burgs field level video looking right down the sideline. The TD catch is legit. Clearly one foot is a foot or so in bounds and in control of the ball. Great camera work by the way.

If I had a place to post I would do so. Video is MPEG2 and about 6 meg. great quality. Let me know if anyone has a place to post and I can email it.

ItownBrowns wrote:As for the fumbles Ironton had, the first was because the Ironton receiver had trouble putting the ball away after he caught it and the Burg players did a good job of getting it out before he could hit the ground. The other two had nothing to do with contact, simply horrible ball handling. For whatever reason they were not taking the ball away well and just dropped the ball. No excuse really, especially among players who were starters last year.

I'll have to disagree on the fumbles. The first one might have been that the receiver did have trouble tucking it away, but the Burg defender was reaching in there trying to pull it out and it worked. The second one was the way a defender should go after the ball and that was the old textbook reaching around from behind the runner and knocking it out of his hands. I was right in front of that play and that was done to perfection. The Ironton runner had the ball tucked, but when it got hit from behind, he couldn't hold onto it. The third one I think was just a good hit that jarred the ball loose. How about giving the Burg defenders some credit for casuing the fumbles. Those balls weren't just dropped as the players were running down the field. They had some help.

The two that the Burg fumbled were caused by some very hard hits, especially that second one. The Burg player was blindsided and never saw the hit coming.

Come on guys we all know what the problem is in the event of multiple fumbles. No one is brave enough to post it.

I know it has been over a week but if anyone is interested in seeing a better view and quality video clip of the game winning TD look here.

http://football.burgfan.com/videos.htm

Click on the Game 1 Play of the Week. Then click the play button in the video frame.

Clearly in bounds and in possession of the football. Official in good position to make this call.

hmm... It works for me. Try just going to Burgfan.com then choosing the videos link at the top. Then click the "2008 Week 1 Play of the Week" link. The player will show preloading and you must hit the play button to start the video.

When I do that, it still says "Oops-Page not found" when I click on the 2008 week 1 play of the week link. Maybe it is me... But then our computers' output has not always been compatible. LOL.

Not really sure. I know the video was converted to flash by the burgfan folks. You may have to download and install the free flash player. The original clip was sent as quicktime mpeg2.

It works now. I didn't do anything different than I did before. One of those glitches I suppose.

That angle makes the catch look more inbounds than it actually was. Andy has a long foot and the arch and toes disappears into the grass from that angle but it all was still inbounds.

Yeah, but that's the angle the official saw and probably the reason he was so quick to make his decision of it being good. From that angle it is very evident that his foot was in, no questions asked.
