I think its a crying shame that these boys don't get recognized for their efforts and not to even put up a box score is worse. The one thing I have noticed is, that in the classifieds under job openings there's not even a job posting for a sports editor/reporter or anything.

For those wondering why there wasn't a GameDay, the editor was at the hospital for most of the night with his daughter. She accidentally ingested some blood pressure medication and suffered a reaction. Therefore, the decision was made to put the GameDay stories in the sports sections so that deadlines were met. However, she was released from the hospital and is doing fine.
We originally had it as a family emergency on the front, but changed it to a technical problem, which I can only say was good, especially for the privacy of the family.

It is apparent the PDT is not going to pick up their "game", so time to make a change and pick up the Scioto Voice. The downside is you will have to wait until the following Thursday, but it is well worth the wait. They have had excellent coverage so far this year and I believe they only have 1 sportswriter. The SV runs circles around the PDT. I won't even waste my time reading the PDT. It is only 50 cents for the Scioto Voice or $22 per year, I think. Plus they have the complete paper online, not bits and pieces like the PDT.

We can continue to complain about the PDT, but it is clear they are not going to improve. If they were going to, especially after all the fiascos so far, it would have happened.

Good job Scioto Voice. You all ROCK!

Josh, we are sorry to hear about the sports editors daughter being ill and in the hospital. Hopefully, she will be firing on all 8 cylinders real soon.

The sports section was some better than the past two weeks but overall it is still lacking coverage of local games. West, Minford and Green fans should riot.

Actually guys, I saw her last night, and she was doing much better. She didn't appear to have any after effects. I will tell the editor your well-wishes. Thanks.

I see a pattern emerging here. If your team is not spotlighted on the Friday preview, don't bother getting a Sat. paper. These are the only games they will cover. PDT has to cover PHS, and they should, but the rest of the area is a coin flip. Although the writing is better it's still a slight to the rest of the community when apparently the editor feels he doesn't need to put pen to paper anymore. I've only seen 2 columns he has done, one introducing himself and the other apologizing for the embarrassing attempt of journalism with the preview. I know it's tough doing "cut and paste" all day but ALL past editors had at least 2 columns per week AND covered a contest on game night. I give him a pass this weekend due to his daughters situation but this does not excuse the rest of the time. My money has gone elsewhere and won't be going back.

Still to many mistakes though in my opinion. A great picture of Jordan Schankweiler on the front of the sports page, but the caption refers to him as Chankweiler twice and has his passing stats as 6-8, 425 yards when it was actually 6-8, 125 yards.

Also, what in the world was that mess on page 3. There were stats for every possible thing you could keep stats for on the Waverly/Wellston game but no story. The West/South Point game had some stats but no story either and listed Leading Carrier and Leading Rusher, which is then same thing, but had two different boys.

If it wasn't for the crossword puzzle and the comics I would have cancelled this rag a long time ago.

Actually Brandon was 6 of 10 passing. But 6 of 8 was pretty close. Wheelersburg as a whole was 7 of 12 passing which is pretty good.

In reference to Sawdusts" PDT has to cover Portsmouth"...Think things will be different this week....as we go all the way to Jackson to play....surely they wont send someone that far.....I think the only reason Portsmouth has been getting coverage is because all games have been in Scioto County....sure their coverage will will end this week with us playing away

Did anyone else notice that in the Valley/Coal Grove article Saturday morning it started referring to Valley as "Minford"?

It went on to talk about "Minford" turnovers. Come on guys. It is sad when you start calling one school another in the article.

No, I have to admit that I did not notice that. But I did notice that the West kicker kicked the extra point for South Point in the scoring summary and I thought that was really nice of him to do that. ;-)

But I should behave. I certainly do goofy things like that myself. I notice this summer that in an article from track I had Sarah Ruggles winning the boys 1600m run when it was her brother Jacob who had done so. And he was not the only one I have mis-named. Those typos are easier to make than one might think.
