Looks like the Burg is a the real deal and that they recovered quite well from the loss of junior QB/LB Tyler Lang. Great job boys. Now it's time to get ready for the Trojans.

Who knows?? The radio said 38-20 was the final and then came back and said it was 28-20 in the 4th quarter.

Closer than many thought. Take back the late fumble and the touchdown called back by the Pointers and the huge 40 yard interception it could have been a totally different out come. Oh Well Burg made the plays necessary to win. Point looked really good at times and other times just crumbled. New week we have Ports West who totally killed Ports. We better practice hard!

Just to confirm, the final score was 28-20. South Point had a chance to tie it up with a late drive, but put the ball on the turf with ~3min left in the 4th to seal the win for WB. From a pointer pov, the burg played a great game and that #3 Jordan Shankwilder (sp?) is one heck of a player on both sides of the ball. GJ tonight.

Well from a Burg pov, SP is a heck of a team! Both RB's are very athletic!
They did a GREAT job at recognizing the weaknesses of Burg and attacking them
Burg's DEF did a good job at stepping up when they needed to, but things got a little close.

The confusion came because guys in the press box don't know how to use the scoreboard controller and kept screwing up the score and down , and everything!
and accidentally gave Burg 38 instead of 28

Neither D could stop the others O. I thought SP's O really beat up the burg's D, really physical. The burgs O played a nice game. The officiating was terrible. SP has some very good, hard running backs.

Nobody from the OVC is going to the playoffs...at least not this year. So I think its to South Point's benefit to schedule hard teams...it will only help them get better. They have showed they can compete with the bigger schools...so its all positive. I hope they take these first few weeks and use the experience to destroy the OVC this year! :-)

SP has 3 really good backs (#3, 5 and 6). Their line looked great at times and then seemed to let up a little at times, but if they get it all together, they could easily finish the season very strong.

Great job by both of the Schankwiler's on both sides of the ball. Once the very young offensive line gets a couple more games under their belt....watch out!!

Nice win against a tough opponent. SP is a solid team. Especially on offense. Big backs that run hard. Seagraves is probably the best back Burg will face until the West game. SP made some adjustments and exploited some weaknesses in the Burg D. Something that must be taken care of this week.

Refrees were not the best. Many holding penalties missed as the Burg defenders were dragged to the ground and no flags on big runs by the pointers. Im sure some were missed on the other side as well.

Burg should have had 2 more scores. The first was a option QB keep. The referee blew the play dead and thought #13 White had the ball. #7 Schank slips into secondary with plenty of daylight and the referee blows the play dead. That was a TD. Also Burg fumbled the ball at the 25 or 30 threatening to score another.

Huge INT in the 2nd qtr with Burg up 14-6 and SP threatening to score. #2 Hopper for Burg picks the ball off in the endzone and returns to the 50. Burg scores 2 plays later to go up 20-6.

Nice game by #7 and #3 "The Schanks". 3 TDs for the soph QB and 1 for older brother. Alot of yards as well for the 1-2 punch. Stats had #7 with 160 yards on 12 carries and #3 with 130 yards. Total offense was 384 yards.

Credit to the OL for a great job coming off the ball and creating the running lanes.

Turnovers hurt both teams a bit and the penalties for Burg.
