Teams that started 9-0 and couldn't finish the deal

Post by The Oaf »

East 1991
Ironton 2004
West 1984
Wheelersburg 1999 and 2008

I know there are others. Who else came close to 10-0 and lost in week 10?

West was 9-0 in 1970 and lost to Notre Dame in Spartan Stadium, who was also undefeated

Athens should've went 10-0 in 09. They were 7-0 lost to ny in week 8 by a point and then finished with belpre and wahama.

Forgot about wheelersburg 1993. If I remember correctly PHS went and watched Rudy the week of the game.

IHS started and finished 9-0 in 1978. IHS missed the playoffs because a game was canceled due to a teachers strike at that school(Logan?). Lutz said it might had been his best team and the following year they won the State.

Jackson and Waverly both entered the last game of the 1969 season at 9-0. The game ended in a 14-14 tie.

Believe Waverly had 2 Tds called back by penalties in this game as well. Game was at Jackson, coincidence or just bad luck?
