TVC OHIO Vs. TVC HOCKING
Re: TVC OHIO Vs. TVC HOCKING
I think that they(Ohio & Hock) should all play each other at least once, rotate every year at home and then next at Opp. home, that would help settle it some.Miss some of the matchup's from years ago.
Re: TVC OHIO Vs. TVC HOCKING
I don't really care which one is better. Having all the teams play each other at least once a year is no real benefit for the TVC Ohio schools.
Most of the TVC Hocking schools are division 4 while most of the TVC Ohio schools are division 3 with a couple of 2's. Playing down in school size doesn't get you ready to play teams of your size in the playoffs, case in point, Vinton County playing so many D-3 schools and then having to play D-2 in the tourney. I am sure that if they played more games against D-2 schools, they would do better in the post season more constantly. Same goes for Meigs. I know in years past, playing games against larger schools helped Belpre in their post season runs, 3 regional titles in the 1990's.
Plus, with playing 20 games a year, it is hard to prepare your team for more than 10 conference games. You have to be up and ready anytime you play in conference as these games have added incentive.
Lets not forget these are high school kids and they aren't always ready to play on any given night. Playing games out of conference, i.e. teams you don't normally play in the season year after year, add excitment for coaches, players and fans. It helps to make a long season more interesting and helps you to prepare for the tourney.

By the term "so many" are you referring to the three D-4 schools they played last year? If VC would've replaced those teams with D-1 and D-2 schools, do you really think it would have helped them beat Chillicothe in the regionals last year?
Re: TVC OHIO Vs. TVC HOCKING
How do the TVC representatives determine if a school belongs in the Ohio or Hocking?
Is it school size?
Is it school size?

IF they were division 3 they might be, but they are not with 295 boys and the divisional breakdown being 134 - 226 to be a D-3 school.
Also, I had a typo in my original post, I should have typed..."so many D 3 schools" instead of D 4 schools. Sorry for the confusion. I corrected it.
And yes, maybe with a tougher schedule, Vinton may have been more prepared to play and possibly beat Chilly in the regionals last year. I know back in 1993 when Belpre played undefeated, #1 ranked Cheasapeake for the regional title, nobody gave Belpre a chance. You play the game with the belief that you can compete with your opponet. Belpre playing D 2 schools like Warren, Marietta, Vinton and Meigs better prepared them for the tourney than playing all D 3 or D 4 schools.

It was supposed to be, but they made an exception for Federal Hocking.

That's old news Mr.B.
From the OHSAA website: Belpre 166 Boys, FH 165, NY 160. Nelsonville York (smallest scholl in the Ohio Division) is not interested in moving down to the Hocking Division.
Actually, my sources tell me when the next numbers come out, FH will be down at least 20 kids.

Old news, yes...just answering a question that was asked. Any new teams would be placed based on their school size.

should have an all star game at the end of the season involving the players who make the all league team.
all league players from the hocking vs all league players from the ohio
all league players from the hocking vs all league players from the ohio

Re: TVC OHIO Vs. TVC HOCKING
How can we measure which division is better?
If We look at Who Beat Who it makes sense that the Ohio, having the largest schools, would be better because they should be able to generate more money for staff and have a greater depth of talent to choose from.
It would make more sense to look at how far each divisions schools have gone in the Tournaments because each school would be playing other schools of similar size.
Anyone know which division has had the best Tourney success?
