Yeah, maybe going to something more simple for a few weeks would work, but it's hard to tell. I've seen some bad teams, and this Portsmouth team isn't one of them. They have more talent than alot of Trojan teams in the last 15 years or so, I'm not sure their record will reflect it at the end of the year.

From the looks of the radar on Weather.com the worst of the storm system that is leftover from Gustav has all moved on north of our area. We might get a few scattered showers or storms as it pulls on out to the north and east but I highly doubt we will get anything significant from this system.

My answer, Alex is None. I'll take quotes and quotables for $200 Alex.

The JC game wasn't stopped any last year Dogg. The game against Russell or Boyd Co, (can't remember which team it was) a few years back was delayed for about an hour or two, but they did finish.

Burg players need to be reminded, if they havent for the 1000th time, this is PORTSMOUTH! INVADING OUR TURF. Just cant let the young QB to dictate the game by scrambling. He is that explosive. White and Hall need to have huge games and Craigmiles needs to make his prescence known early and often. That will help Adkins and Walker get to the QB. I hope the adjustment for the loss of lang on defense are done and final. I hope the Shanks have the same game as last week, but if they are keyed on, I hope White, Walker and company make them pay for those keys. Good luck BuRG!

OK... I will finally post my prediction after reading all the highly important top secret information in this thread.

Burg's D will be too much for Portsmouth in this one. With Myers the main rusher on the team I think Burgs quick DL will cause havoc in the backfield and put too much pressure on Myers. DEs must contain the corners and push the play to the sidelines or keep Myers pinned inside. Concern for Burg is the speedy receivers of the Trojans. If Myers finds time to throw he could pick the Burg pass D apart.

Offensively I believe Burg should be able to move the football. The "Brothers Schank" will have another solid performance.

My Prediction: Portsmouth gets "Schanked" by the Pirates
Burg 28
Portsmouth 7

This will be the first head to head meeting at the varsity level for 2 very talented soph qbs. It should lead to some great matchups the next 3 yrs.

That is true. How did they fair against each other last year in the Freshman contest? Who won the game, Burg or Ptown?

Ptown has historically had trouble with a team that has good running QB and Brandon Schankweiler has proven that he can definetley run the ball very well, but he is not all the Burg has.

Like demaniac said, this is the Trojans coming to town to play on the Burg's turf. Nothing more than a Pirate victory is expected. This game at one time was "the game" of the year in the area, but for some reason has lost it's luster. I don't think the kids look at it as much of a rivalry like it was in the late 70's-early 80's. I can remember when these two got together, didn't matter what sport, could have been marbles, you knew going in it was going to be a knockdown, drag out fight.

I remember one year, a buddy and me caught these two girls from Ptown toilet papering at the bottom of the hill of the stadium. We told them we weren't from the area and asked what the TP was for. They said that is for just the biggest game of football in the area and we laughed about it and went on. Funny thing is that as we were driving away one of the coaches came down from the stadium, caught them and made them clean it all up. There must have been 20 rolls of TP in those trees. That was when it was good. No harm done, just some kids showing support for their school.

Good luck Pirates. Make it 3-0 and 12 to go.

Not good, but a big improvement over last week. The coaches put the kids in position to win, they just need to learn to execute a little better. Good luck to Burg the rest of the year, you have a fast team and a good qb considering he's a soph.

Great job Pirates. Defense had that bend but don't break attitude again. Good pressure on Myers all night long. Never really got set enough to throw the long ball to the speedy receivers.

Now about the officials. That had to be the worst crew I have ever seen on a football field. Can someone explain to me why the two back guys, stood on each sideline and why didn't one of them stand in the middle of the field., where the QB's could see the one counting down the play clock? Those two guys were so far away from the action, they couldn't of seen much going on. The intentional grounding call against Myers was absolutely horrible. It was not intentional grounding but more on the lines the receiver went one way and Myers threw the other way. Absoultely horrible call that late in the game. They had way to many pow-wows to try and decipher what the call was and how much yardage should be marked off. It was almost as if theyn made it about them and not the kids. I have never seen that many offensive offsides called in a game in my life.

Great effort by both teams. Ptown never quit, even down 28-0. Great sportsmanship shown by both teams.
