1) HT is 2-0 without a truly close game yet.

2) Logan has never played HT, therefore they have no basis to assume they "play inferior" competition or "aren't big or fast enough."

3) HT is coached by Bob Jacoby, one of the top coaches in the entire state.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath, and realize that despite early success, Logan is far from unbeatable, especially considering we still have no idea just how good the 2008 Lancaster team is.

Locos,
I hope I'm not being arrogant. I get knots in my stomach right before ANY game Logan plays and it is good to have a healthy respect for your opponent. Having said that, I still don't think HT is in it IF Logan plays their game. Jacoby, much like Lutz, can coach but he can't suit up. As far as rushing goes, I wish we were better at it, too, but for whatever reason, it hasn't shown up yet. It hasn't been needed in the first two games, either. Logan is playing a different offense this year. We have all but two games on turf which is a faster track. We're not going to be "three yards and a cloud of dust" team this year. As teams watch game films and see how we spread the defenses out, they are going to make adjustments to slow down our spread/isolation offense. That means pulling back some guys from a stacked line of scrimmage. I guarantee you will see some running plays busted out in the next few games. But we aren't going to be the Logan team we were last year that got stuffed in the playoff game. Our passing game this year with short passes getting Mason isolated out in the flat is sometimes the equivalent of a running game. Arrogant? Maybe it seems that way but I just look down the schedule and don't see anyone matching our talent. I posted on a thread earlier this year that Logan would go 9-1 or 10-0 with Lancaster being the only loss. I also said on that post that if Logan gets by Lancaster in the first game, look out. I stand by that statement.

D&C -

I respect your opinion. And look, next week, I'm going to feel a lot more confident about predicting a big Chieftain victory b/c I've seen Gallia Academy before.

I think Logan is going to win against Hamilton Twp, and we probably should win pretty easily if we play focused with intensity.

But I know I haven't seen Hammy play before, and I don't think any other Logan poster has either. I always think it's dangerous to assume a win an easy win over a team you've never seen before, that's all I'm trying to say.

Go Chiefs, take care of business!

... Locos - I have have seen Hamilton Twp. play Canal Winchester and the OSU bound 7 footer .......... oh!!! you're talking about football!!!! - never mind LOL ...

... I'm going with the Amyx Defensive unit to handle HT ... the LHS passing game with P Angle being a running threat will keep HT back on it's heels BUT right now the BIG question mark for the Chiefs IS the running game ... lack of speed out of the backfield ? (lack of speed being a step slower than last season) ; less than stellar O-Line play so far ? (injuries being the culprit) ... whatever the issue with the Purple ground game it HAS to be fixed for the LHS offense to reach it's potential (whether it's 3 yards and cloud of turf or a big play potential running game) ... imo a one dimensional offense will not get it done .... SEOAL Championship, 10-0 , Playoff run - ALL three are in jeopardy IF the running game can't be found ...

... can't complain about 2-0 , a W over Lancaster, our sights set on 10-0, SEOAL Championship, playoffs ... great job by Coach Amyx's crew so far ... build on it, keep improving every week - Go Purple !!!

I guess I'm just a glass-half-full type. I'll take where we stand vs. where we were after game two last year. Could the lack of a running game hurt us? Sure. Did having a running game help us in week 11 last year? No. Now We have the Cam West type of quarterback. I'm sure Dale will be working with all the guys to make sure we can get a yard when we need to.

The Logan Freshman played Hamilton Twp last year and beat them pretty handily.

Over on the "other" message board, there has been discussion of the parking. From what I've read it's every bit as bad as Logan's as they are in the same construction situation we are.

According to Ranger fans, there is very limited parking in front of the school. Last year they also had people park at the middle school and be shuttled to the field however they haven't said to this point if that will continue this year. Also they said that we could park in the housing subdivision just to the south of the stadium, but be aware of the "no parking" signs as the local authorities are ready to make some easy money. Sounds familiar doesn't it? "Get there early" seems to be the theme for this Friday.

GO CHIEFS!!!!

OK, I'll make my prediction. Locos, cover your eyes! I see this as 54-14 Logan. Sorry, just my gut feeling. Can't wait to get back to THE CHIEF for Gallia.

I of course see Logan winning just not by these kind of margins. A couple of reasons. One the Chiefs have rarely beat anyone by those margins. Some how i believe HT is better than Athens ans Warren . Secondly Amyx will not beat any team coached by Jacoby by that margin unless the JV just run wild over HT. I would say scale it back and enjoy the victory.

2OLD, I WOULD HOPE THEY ARE.
NOT TO KNOCK ATHENS BUT, YOU CAN'T GET MUCH FURTHER DOWN THEN THERE PROGRAM.
JACOBY IS 1 HECK OF A COACH. HT MAY NOT BE DESALES BUT, THEY WILL BE READY TO PLAY.

I guess we should scale it back a little. We all know the kids on the team are reading this stuff. What I want to see from them (if they are reading this post) is to go out and knock HT off both lines early on. It's going to be hot and humid again but we need to take care of business and get back home without any more injuries.

HEY! We better start to worry about developing a consistant running game or we are going to be in big trouble, sure we have an outstanding QB but we must get some production from our running backs. This will be a closer game than all you experts think. I have it from a good source (an old coach from the northeast) that Hamiton Twp will throw their entire playbook at us! The will also come up with a funky defense to control or offense!

Whoa! I admit I'm not an expert. You're reading too much into it if you think that's what I'm implying. This is a FORUM, which means it is a place to exchange opinions. And you know what they say about opinions! Do you think Amyx and the crew are satisfied with the running game so far? So do you think they are just sitting back and looking on? I'm sure they're every bit as concerned and are working on it in practice. What I'm trying to say is that I'm a fan. I don't have any input into how the offensive plans are being put into place and no one else on here (unless you are a Logan coach) does. So relax. Sit back and enjoy the 2-0 start. My Gawd, this thing is sounding like the Dispatch with all the readers weighing in on the Buckeyes. Take this in. This is one special team that comes along only once in a while. I've watched these kids play since 3rd grade and I am not the least surprised with what they are doing. They ARE NOT the '75 Steelers. They will make mistakes and they will have some shortcomings. We will have some leaner years in the future so enjoy the ride now. And IF we don't advance in the palyoffs very far, I don't care. Let the Ironton posters worry about that. I'm just having too much fun watching them play on Friday nights now. Let's go beat HT and worry about balance and running games and the playoffs when that is an issue. WIN NOW BABY!

I understand that Dale is concerned about his running game, and they will do the best they can. I am concerned that we are putting undo pressue on the kids by predicting scores such as 56 - 10! I know that we have the talent to have a good running game, BUT they must start pushing the envelope. This will be a good week to start looking at different combinations of players!
