Matewan 21
Symmes Valley 6
Game basically came down to the team with the fewest mistakes.0-0 at half with neither team playing anything but an average game.
Matewan's best runner was Davis,#4,but his longest run was 30 yards. Each time he ran for any distance came out with severe leg cramps.A very tired looking defense for SV allowed 2 late td's on interception and fumble.Neither team had an outstanding player.
Expect the "Leave No Doubt"tour to continue next week.

Re: Matewan:Symmes Valley
not symmes valley's best game, not so great play calling and even worse execution, the line needs to play with more speed, the backs need to hit the holes harder, and the pass D needs to stiffen up
use this loss to motivate you for next week ,vikes, go and get the peake

Yeah, it was 20-6.
The Vikes will be up for this Friday's game with Peake, wanting to end the 17-year losing streak to the Panthers. OTOH, Peake should be at near full strength, with Blake coming off suspension for his ejection from the Oak hill game, & Donahoe hopefully over his illness. I believe the young Panthers learned a few things from the Wayne game & will be ready for a maximum effort against the Vikes, who are always tough for the whole 48 minutes. They, too, will have learned a few things from Matewan, a perennial WV power.
I believe it'll be a good game, as usual.

Re: Matewan:Symmes Valley
I will agree that the execution wasnt there, but man I really question some of the play calling.... I am not one to ever, and I mean ever, question the coaching of the sv staff, but in this one I was left shaking my head a few times.. I mean Coach webb can't hang on to the ball for them nor can he block for them (a screen pass on 4th down from the matwan 12 set up perfect three lead blockers and one defender and the blockers ran right past the defender and the tackle was made, when he would have walked into the endzone)..but I just wonder what would have happened if u kick the extra point and tie the game up with the momentum coming to your sideline. I will say this, another amazing defensive game called by Coach Webb as always ill put his geneous defensive mind up agianst any coach out there... I really believe sv can win alot of games this year and make the post season they just need to get back on track this week with the peak..

My thoughts too.SV was really looking better and moving ball fairly well.Much better to be tied with 8 minutes left than behind and giving ball up.Hate to be critical of any coach but SV seemed to have lost their heart after that.My impartial opinion only. But then if it worked and Matewan lost we would be saying what a genious move it was.
