I follow Jackson football and I havent heard of McManis or Mapes???What grade are they in?

McManis is a senior. This is his first year starting full-time.

Mapes is a junior. He was unable to play last year as a sophomore.

Both guys have stepped in and done very well so far this season.

I will keep my eye out for them tonight. I wish them well. I just cant seem to keep my eye off the Hughes kid he is a beast! The team as a whole is playing excellent!

Ryan Hughes has been absolutely dominant on both sides of the ball during the first two weeks of the season. He has a chance to have a very special year for the Ironmen.

I really like what I have seen from the offensive and defensive lines the last two weeks. They're really playing well. The competition in the SEOAL will be extremely tough, but I think the guys up front are getting better each week. Looks like they'll be up to the challenge once league play begins.

Yes, I think that all the polls for the SEOAL may have underestimated Jackson this year, a prediction of a 5th (?) place position in the final standings.. I really hope the boys prove them wrong and have them eating Crow at the end of the season..................and I'll even pass the salt!

SEOAL play is going to be pretty difficult, especially the last four games for the Ironmen against Ironton, Chillicothe, Logan, and Zanesville. That four game stretch is as tough as it gets in this area. I'm with you though...I think Jackson will end up being much better than many people expected. I know Gridiron Glory projected Jackson as the 8th best team in the SEOAL, only above Warren. A win tonight against VC should give the Ironmen a lot of confidence heading into SEOAL play...just gotta stay focused and take care of the football.

i heard that the coach from vinton was telling his kids to just dive at his ankles....wat a good way to try and stop him...hughes prolly the best over all lineman around defense and offense

Jackson sounds like they can't get going in the second half. If Vinton can get their Offense going this thing can get interesting. Jackson sounds like their own worse enemy right now. Not to take anything away from Vinton b/c they have keyed in on Huff and made some nice stops.
