Now they have a huge rivarly game with a quality opponent to prepare for all season until week 10 ... Its going to make the Buckeyes better in the long run - I'm almost 100% positive of that.
They had this going for years ..Now its counts..add jackson warren ..that way Nobody has to add Watkind Amanda..Ncatholic to be teasted..jackson the buckeyes athens will be a test..

Bloom Carroll will be looking for a new 1st week opponent in 2013. Also, will be looking for a week 2 opponent. BC has been down for a few years (with 5 coaches in the last 8 years) - but with the hire of Mauro this spring, BC-NY would be a good matchup for both teams in 2013/2014 home and home!

A few predictions:

1. Nelsonville goes 8-2 and wins TVC. SEOPS Posters predict great things in playoffs.

2. Nelsonville loses in first round of playoffs......again

3. Coach threatens to quit next spring over lack of administrative support.....again.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Wahama is close to NY in size and they would be lucky to go 3-7 with this schedule

I'm confused on #3 ... The coach IS an administrator at Nelsonville-York ... Is he going to threaten to quit since he's not doing enough himself?

Wahama makes another run in the weakest high school football state in the country, Then brags how great they are, knowing they are to afraid to play GOOD football teams! We have an opening here in the next year or 2, Maybe you guys could come on up and play us.....WAIT I forgot! Wahama will not play Good football teams!

If they "wahama" do play you, I'd make it a 1 year deal cause they have been known to drop a team mid summer if they know your good leaving you with only 9 games and possibly missing the playoffs because of it. Ask Meigs

IMO, I think everyone is overlooking an important aspect about the season, and that is whether or not Nelsonville-York will even be good this year. Most are assuming that they will "Reload" instead of "Rebuild" like usual. I will say that everything was put into the class before this one, and there wasn't a back-up plan, and now they will pay for it and even though they are facing mediocre teams, I believe they will still have a hard time competing and pull out a decent record this year. Just an opinion.

With only 5 losing seasons in the past 40 years, it is highly unlikely NY will finish below .500.

I have heard from two different people (one friend from Glouster & one from Nelsonville) - that Austin North may be back in Glouster? As a fan of Athens County sports and the TVC; this is knowledge I would like and need to know ... I was gonna work on some previews over the next few weeks - but that is a big deal if it is in fact true?

Anyone have any insight to that? 100% true? Totally false?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on the subject.

(if its totally false - I will delete the question ... I don't want rumors flying around about players - but if its ture - everyone will know soon enough as teams get out on the field for 7-on-7 drills.)

I watched NY 9th graders and reserves the past season and they looked good. If this year seniors don't have much they will struggle the first part of the season. The freshman QB [QB reserves too] looks to have a lot of talent.

Every year people freak out because they think NY will go 2-8 or something. Truth is, that Ny has some kids who can play and while they may go 7-3 or even 6-4, the wheels are not falling off!!

If Nelsonville wants to play us, they should be doing more to keep us in the league instead of voting us down. Last I checked, phones work in ohio same as they do in west virginia.

Why go back? He is on the best team in the Ohio division.

This upcoming senior class has quite a bit of talent, even though last years class was more haroled. Many players in that class got quite a bit of experience and will show what kind of talent they have with the schedule they have. They have a great chance for the TVC and plaoyoffs this year. The next couple years after this one is where you will be seeing the 7-3 and 6-4 records from NY because the while they still will have some kids who can play, the talent pool will be less. There is quite a bit of talent in the junior high this year. When those kids come up, they will be back to a playoff contender again.

The weight room and work ethic is the great equalizer ... A team that doesn't 'appear' loaded or talented - can sneak up on fans and become really good football teams ... Its why I love the fall and high school football in general.

The one thing we all know for sure - is that nothing is for sure!

(i.e.) Did anyone - and I mean any real football fan - think for a second Athens would go 10-0 last year and make the playoffs? I knew every player and thought I knew everything about the team - and I was hoping for a 7-3 season and possible TVC-Ohio title at best.

Heard that Ausin was wanting to transfer back to trimble but he was denied by the state and is only eligible to play at NY. He is having to sit out 4 contests at the beginning of the year for some off the field issues.
Good luck to both the cats and bucks and to Austin. Football season is almost upon us :-D
