The real question should be, will he really sit out those games? I hope it all works out in the best interest of the kid and what ever team he plays for.gecko wrote:Heard that Ausin was wanting to transfer back to trimble but he was denied by the state and is only eligible to play at NY. He is having to sit out 4 contests at the beginning of the year for some off the field issues.
Good luck to both the cats and bucks and to Austin. Football season is almost upon us

Re: 2012 Nelsonville-York Schedule
i really dont think this Austin kid deserves all of this talk as to where or who he is playing for. I think an athlete should be a good community member, a good family member and a good student. the comment about him setting out for 4 games to off field issues says red flag to me and that is probably just the start. I think the talk and excitement should be for the kids that deserve the respect.

Even if it didn't count scrimmages, surely playing 6 games for NY is more exciting than playing a 10 game TVC Hocking schedule. No offense to anyone.

I don't know NY96 ... As a RB, churning out 200 yrd games versus Eastern & Miller would be kind of fun ...

That mentality sounds like the driving force behind a great big school wanting to join a small conference so that it can win some games. I think we all know who runs there athletic department on that philosophy.....93Bulldog wrote:I don't know NY96 ... Some of us like to play better competition. Best of luck in ohio's "AAA" playoffs.........

Opponents like Eastern, Southern, Miller, Waterford, Federal Hocking, Belpre, Trimble, Madonna, South Gallia and Buffalo?Titletown TVC wrote:93Bulldog wrote:Some of us like to play better competition.
Boy, that's a real doozy of a schedule ...

The beauty of the Ohio Division is it allows teams to have flexibility in who it plays year in and year out ... Warren, Jackson, Gallia, Watkins Memorial & Waverly are all on the docket for this upcoming season - that is a pretty stout schedule for Athens titletown TVC.
Re: 2012 Nelsonville-York Schedule
Yes when you are the biggest school in your conference you can schedule some better non conference opponents. Of course we saw how Athens fared when they faced another playoff caliber team in their own division last season. Also, I bet you were tough as nails as a TB at Athens when you played. Did you rack up a lot of 200 yard games back then?93Bulldog wrote:Opponents like Eastern, Southern, Miller, Waterford, Federal Hocking, Belpre, Trimble, Madonna, South Gallia and Buffalo?Titletown TVC wrote:93Bulldog wrote:Some of us like to play better competition.

Re: 2012 Nelsonville-York Schedule
Ok, let me try to help you. i will type slow since your reading level is diminished. We dont play Madonna this year. We play Fayetteville. And.........we are single A. We would be Division 6 in Ohio. When you are the smallest division you cant be accused of playing down because there is no "down" to play. Athens, on the other hand, can, and does, choose to play down on a regular basis. That is the reason why we can get deep in our playoffs and you guys are lucky to even get in.93Bulldog wrote:Opponents like Eastern, Southern, Miller, Waterford, Federal Hocking, Belpre, Trimble, Madonna, South Gallia and Buffalo?Titletown TVC wrote:93Bulldog wrote:Some of us like to play better competition.

Fair is fair, Athens nonconference looks better than usual. At least they aren't scheduling WV single A's like they have in past years. Now that the schedule matches their enrollment, lets see how they do. the proof will be in the pudding.

I was an 160 lb Noseguard/MLB and a TE on offense ... Tough? maybe. Speed? Nope.M0TIVAT0R wrote:Also, I bet you were tough as nails as a TB at Athens when you played. Did you rack up a lot of 200 yard games back then?

Re: 2012 Nelsonville-York Schedule
Athens was forced to scramble to find games when they switched leagues ... Hence, the scheduling of Wahama and Federal Hocking those first two years in the TVC-Ohio.Titletown TVC wrote:Fair is fair, Athens nonconference looks better than usual. Last years schedule was tough as well Titletown ... Warren, Gallia, Chillicothe, Waverly and Coal Grove ... Then Athens beat a (9-0) Nelsonville-York team to finish undefeated ... Did they lose to Jackson? Yea, but lets not take anything away from a (10-0) Ironman team - they were really, really good last year as well ... I'm sure you can understand getting beat by a good team (i.e. Williamstown).

Re: 2012 Nelsonville-York Schedule
Please...........they could have found games against bigger schools. Granted it would have meant being on a bus for awhile. Gate revenues would have been diminished but I am doubting Fed Hock or Wahamas gates werent that big anyway that year. At least not what a school with your enrollment shouldbe accustomed to seeing. I would be able to give them at least some credit if they had travlled North of I70 for at least one of those games or over to Cincinnati. My point is that there are 700+ schools playing football in Ohio. And you guys scheduled Wahama and Fed.......wow timmy93Bulldog wrote:Athens was forced to scramble to find games when they switched leagues ... Coal Grove D-5
Waverly D-4 went 3-7
Chili is D-2 but went 3-7
Warren D-2 went 5-5
But at least Gallia had a winning record at 6-4
Yes you beat NY who was 9-1, but they are also D-5.
So you beat one school your size with a winning record. Better than past years yes, and hopefully your success will continue with schools your size this year.
