Reasons why Basketball is better than football.....
1. We can almost win state in basketball.
2. The ball is round.....duh!
3. Its indoors. Dont have to worry about being wet or cold.
4. We can practice it year round.
5. Tom and the Boys at the Butcher Shop love it and will help any kid who wants to play.
6. You dont have to be big and tough to be really good.
I am sure there is more. Help me out.......

The referees can hear you when you tell them how bad their calls are!

The stage: It's smaller and more intimate. You can see everything from the stands (often better than the refs, apparently).
Atmosphere: Going along with the stage, give me the frenzy of fans at a hoops game over ones at a football game.
Scoring: Each possession is a battle that has a real impact on the final line ... and it's unlikely that your team will ever get shut out.
Fouls: You can commit any number of infractions (shy of personal fouls) and play all day. Not in basketball.
Skill-sets: It's beneficial for all players to master the same fundamentals. Having guards that can box out/rebound and bigs that can handle the ball and pass is more valuable than quarterbacks and linebackers that can block or linemen that can catch.
Offseason development: In the offseason, you just need a ball and you can improve on your own (just ask Pistol Pete). A ball and a hoop and you can get rid of that XBox. Summer commitment in high school football is required. In hoops, it's up to the individual.
Coaches' impact: They're right there making adjustments at every stop. You never hear "I think Coach X will find a way to win this one late..." in football like you do in basketball.
X's and O's: Give me BLOBS, presses and press breaks, help side defense and zone offenses over goal line offense, blitzes, third-down packages and power running any day.
The moments: I've seen a lot of football games from the sidelines but big moments there don't compare to big moments on the hardwood. Seeing a bench interlocking arms, the crowd falling silent as a final shot drifts towards the hoop. You can see the pain and joy on every face as the final buzzer sounds. Never got a thrill watching a football game even remotely close to what I got seeing Borden's clutch 3's that helped Oak Hill to a state title.
Movies: Only baseball can rival basketball on the silver screen. But with "Hoosiers" and "Coach Carter," heck throw in "White Men Can't Jump" and "Space Jam" and you'll see hoops easily dominating football's movie stock.

We don't have football so I guess by association I like basketball better. We do have soccer(football) and darn good too. About 20 years of good.

The girls can play too, and they wear shorts! only not as short as in my day.
It's just easier to get involved in as a fan.

In The Chefs opinion basketball takes all the athletic skills into an account. Heard on ESPN talk show announcers said Lebron James and Blake Griffin are the greatest athletes currently on the face of the earth. Only athlete that was mentioned on the show that was in their class was Usain Bolt. Think this is a pretty good argument.
Re: Reasons why Basketball is better than football.....
you are much closer to the action in basketball & there is a definate home court advantage in basketball every gym is different dimensions, shooting background ect.... football fields r all same basically

Tournament basketball is one of the most entertaining and exciting events of any sport. Something you don't get in football. Events like Beasts of the Southeast, all day action at the Convo in late February and March....Four divisions of Final Four in Columbus....can't beat it.

You don't have to wait till next year to get back at a team if they beat you.
The energy in the stadium feeds the crowd better.
Popcorn won't get soggy if it rains.
Just like early football games, you can sweat your %^&* off and not even sit in the sun.
Cheerleaders don't have to wear jackets.
