Are you talking about a legal addres or where the kid actually sleeps? We all know instances in the past 5 years where a kid will have an "official" address in his/her "new" district, but really sleeps at his "old" house. Transfer rules are a joke.

Also you have to look at exactly where they live, just like at some points here in Sciotoville kids live right on the line to where they can go to either Burg or East with a Burg address but within East district. I believe out 140 there is a place that is on the line of Burg, East, and Minford.

Actually there on 140 Webster, Burg, Minford & Portsmouth connect. East no loger technically has a district. So a kid that lives in PHS disctrict has to enroll at Sciotoville Community School or ride the bus all the way downtown to PHS.

The OHSAA has several rules against transfering. Someone who wishes to transfer to a different school MUST establish residency in a different school district, or an address in a different state, for an entire year. If not, the player has to sit out a year, and waste a year of eligibility.

Jumper, you do not know the entire OHSAA rules on eligiblity. If the school superintendant from the school where the student is eligible at signs a release to another district or county then that student is eligible to play without setting out.You can find all the rules of eligiblity on the OHSAA website and if they are unclear to you ask someone to explain them to you.

If the transfer is based upon a superintendent's signature, then no, the player can continue to live out of district. No move-in is required. That rule was repealed by the OHSAA this spring, but those who have transferred in the past based upon the rule are "grandfathered." Over 500 students in Ohio transferred under this rule last year.

As further clarification, it is my understanding that if you attend an out-of district school beginning in the 9th grade, then no move-in is required either. That rule is still in effect, but you must make such a choice at the very beginning of the 9th grade year.

Pembrook burrows III, you are correct on the placement of a 9th grader. Where ever a 9th grader attends their first day that is where they are eligibile at with no relocation.

Jumper -Always crys foul play. Stop moaning about kids not wanting to go to Green. Focus on the good kids that are at Green.

I don't like it when kids leave Green to play else where
but it happens and has for a while now at Green.
we have maybe 3 kids that play at others schools
and all 3 would be starters at Green this season.
I feel you should play in the school district where you live
but the rule is there and I understand that Parents will
do what they feel is best for their kid. I'm not upset
with parents that take their kids to another school.
because life is short and there bigger things in life than sports.
Go Cats good luck this season.
