Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
BURG's advantage has been leveled , most seniors on the gridiron now are 18 yrs old before the season begins . Just like the Valley team you seen this year !
Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
I'm not debating that Valley will contend, I believe they will be a factor every year. Other than the 08 game the margin of victory has been 8 points or less, so the game could have gone either way, Valley has beaten us, but it has been extremely competitive. Don't sleep on Wheelersburg. You guys had a great season and a good win, but they missed the playoffs for the first time in 5 years and Valley made the playoffs for the first time in 6 and the game was still pretty competitive. They are never going away from the top of the Soc, and with the stability West has had in the past 4 years (something we haven't had since Tipton in the 70s, 80s, 90s) I doubt we are either. Don't forget about your rivals Minford which you guys have struggled with, I would imagine they will be contending this year. Also Waverly throws out a good team every now and then that will compete for the title. All I'm trying to say is that the league is to the point where it is incredibly balanced. Valley has a good program, but don't expect to run roughshod over everyone like you did in Soc 1 in the 90's and early 00s.SOCMAN05 wrote:The seeds have been sewn at Valley !! Valley will contend every year for the 4 seeable future ! And as far as BLACK & Orange Valley has defeated West 4 out of the last 5 years And Burg for the 1st time in forever this past season . Look for a Valley tradition to live on ! Yes the Purple & Gold is the new Swag !!! Now just sit back and watch !!!!!

Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
Please enlighten us all. Are we insinuating a QB?No, thats just what you're insinuating to start trouble. Last years kids were all Valley kids..and most will be this upcomimg. We've all said that Valley lost a lot and would be middle of the pack, but if this kid comes in he will fill the void in a crucial spot...it doesnt matter either way, as Valley has a STUD freshman who COULD start as a freshman, but will most likely take over as a Soph...

Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
you guys are great reads ....some great back and forth trash talk on here.....makes me laugh ....this conference is always fun and the rivalries are great and have gotten better because of the leveled talent field as stated in an earlier post ....and the young men are really working hard in off season and it shows... the games are so physical now ...even in jr high.....I just hope Valley has a solid season and competes in every game and remains injury free ...so that being said I think Wheelersburg, Valley, West will compete for the Golden Football....and where are all of these transfers coming from ...thats why our numbers are down ....no transfers in ....we are home grown for next several yrs good or bad we might take some lumps..... but by my son's sophomore yr we will be DVI
Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
I am sorry guys but the only thing Valley will be competing for in the SOC next year is Last Place.

Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
Amusing thread!!
What was being said this time last year, and really since Valley has joined the SOC II, by some of the same blowhard braggarts? :12224
Valley could NEVER compete, Valley sucks, Valley this and Valley that........The Burg was going to be down but would be in the mix, the Siders would sweep and the MIGHTY BIRD from the East is the new beast....
Now, those of us who have been around for a while realize the Burg and the Siders are always competitive and that Waverly, Minford and Valley will come to play most years. No one team rules the roost as in years past, based on the recent league champions. The Burg, Siders, the Falcons and the Indians have each won the title in recent years. Like it or not, disagree or not, the Indian's are an extremely small DV school competing and winning against teams far greater in terms of numbers and against teams with winning traditions. It's not a fluke folks. Darren, Scott, Dean and company have built a competitive program that had great success in the small division and have won the big division in a short amount of time. Get used to it. Discredit, dismiss and demean all you want. Valley may or may not compete for the title this year but I'll bet any of you they'll be in the mix sooner rather than later.
BTW, I think parity in the league is a great thing. The competitive nature of our league has proven to be realitive in terms of success come tourney time. Our conference has rallied around those schools who advance. Their success is a direct reflection on the conference as a whole! THAT, boys and girls, is great for our corner of the world.

Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
your going to have to prove to many that your success wasnt just because of one great class. Winning the league this year really helped but it didnt help that you beat maybe the worst team the burg has feilded in 40 yrs and that they still gave you all you wanted for 3 quarters. the size thing will vary some yr to yr it wasnt long ago that valley was larger than the burg #'s wise.

I don't disagree with your comments but I do take exception to those morons who post on here saying Valley can't hang with the top teams in the league. BTW, how do you define success?
Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
Valley has a good program going. But what FBNUT said is right on. Valley had maybe it's most talented class ever go through. The 8th grade class has the athletes to play a similar style as this year. The classes in the middle don't. IMO Valley will struggle for the next couple years.
Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
SURPRISE.....SURPRISE !!!! Siderman you and NUT and SPAM have not done your homework ! Valley will be in the thick of things for the for-seeable future , Like it or not there here to stay !

Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
Success is year after year fielding playoff caliber teams and winning SOC championships. And no one can say that Pirates and Siders have not dominated overall in the past 50 years. With saying that, it doesn't mean another team can't have a year like that. But winning it one year and going to the playoffs doesn't make you a contender the next years to come, and it sure doesn't make you a powerhouse. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.starbase_318 wrote:fbnut wrote:your going to have to prove to many that your success wasnt just because of one great class. Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
I'll tell ya what. I'll agree with that statement when they've won over 15 soc championships, have some playoff appearances, and a state championship game appearance like west and burg and then you can compare. Until then valley is still a blind squirrel.SOCMAN05 wrote:That Blind Squirrel has beaten WEST 4 out of the 6 years that they've been in the SOC2 ! Deal with it there here 2 stay !

Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
If playoff teams and SOC championships are the measuring stick, Wheelersburg and only Wheelersburg has dominated the past 50 years. 23 playoff appearances and 28 SOC titles is dominant. West has 7 playoff appearances. Minford has 7, Valley has 6, Waverly has 4. No one else has been close to Wheelersburg for the last 50 years.WildWestSider wrote:Success is year after year fielding playoff caliber teams and winning SOC championships. Re: Who takes the SOC this year?
Who are you trying to convince? There seems to be a contingent of Valley fans trying to convince the area that your something your not. You have a good program, but that is it. As we said, you had a great class come through that carried you for 3 years. Win after their gone the same way and you will get credit.SOCMAN05 wrote:That Blind Squirrel has beaten WEST 4 out of the 6 years that they've been in the SOC2 ! Deal with it there here 2 stay !
