Good defense by Warren to keep this a one possession ball game.

Leffingwell with 3 interceptions in the 1st quarter. Seemed to settle in during the 2nd quarter and drove the field twice.

Athens defense steps up big with their 4th interception late in the game with their heels on their own goal line. Then the Athens offense seals the win by gaining a few first downs to earn the hard fought 'W' tonight!
ATHENS (3-0) -- 19
WARREN (2-1) -- 14 FINAL
Nice win for Coach Adams and his staff, and the for the Bulldogs for going into Warren and coming out (2-0) on the road this season in 2 very hostile places (Galia/Warren), two of their old SEOAL foes and now move to (3-0) with CHillicothe coming to town next week!

Props to the Athens defense. Warren was in the redzone 6 times and came away with only 14 points. Warren scored with 3 minutes left to take the lead but had the TD called back due to offensive pass interference...tough break.

Congrats to the Bulldogs, this game was not pretty for either team. Both teams played in spurts. Mr. Sharpe is a legit player. Good Luck to you guys, Beat Nelsonville.

My hat is off to Athens. Two games on your schedule that will now decide your season, Alex and NY. Good luck.

I think the game was as good as advertised. Let me congratulate both teams on playing a very entertaining game. The Athens defense stepped up and intercepted Warren four times and with the exception of one long pass play kept the high powered Warren offense in check. Great job Bulldogs, one game at a time. Next up Chillicothe!

Went to see the 1st half of this one. Athens looks pretty good. They should have a solid season. Some hard hitting on defense, plus Mr. Sharp is real good. This game might have seen the best QB that they will see all season.

Re: Week 3: Athens (2-0) @ Warren (2-0)
Warren had several key penalties that killed them. Two were inside the 10 yard line in the redzone and were each 15 yard setbacks (offensive pass interference and a personal) I hope they spend some time on the basics this week. I was very dissapointed in the play calling in the redzone also. Four straight passes each time they reached the redzone even when Athens had literally 6 guys in the secondary, not much vision from the coach. The tailback Mays was very effective last night and has some real guts for his size not sure why they got away from using him inside the 20?

I saw the last scoring play on WTAP, a long screen pass. The Marietta Times shows it as a 90 yd pass from Skinner, and then Skinner's passing stats as 5 for 7 for 89 yards. My questions is, were all of Skinner's completions caught behind the line of scrimmage?
