Re: Portsmouth vs West
its funny how ports 8th grade was scared to play wests 8th grade and then let all the portsmouth 8th grade starters play against west 7th grade thats really teaching the kids alot
Re: Portsmouth vs West
dont know what you are talking about, we dont have an 8th grade team, the QB that started and played tonight was a 7th grader, and onme of the best 8th graders, "Alex Grashel' is out with a broken foot.

Re: Portsmouth vs West
this evening portsmouth played 11 eighth graders in the contest againt wests seventh grade team. If you
dont know what he is talking about, let me tell you. the portsmouth coach told me that they can not compete
in their eighth grade schedule. we was told by our ad that there would be 4 8th graders playing down, and
that we would not even know they were on the field. we should have known that something was up!

Re: Portsmouth vs West
What would be the incentive for this? They want to win a non-league middle school game so bad that they trick other ad's into playing them?

like I said, I made the comment,
I dont know what you are talking about"..meaning , I knew our 7th and 8th grade team was combined, I do know one of our best 8th grader is out with a broken foot.
I also know we have more talented players on the 7th grade team, who was the Portsmouth 8th garderts that made the big diffrence in the game,,"not being smart, Im just curious....also, I agree if he said 4, 8th graders thats what it should have been.
Re: Portsmouth vs West
At school all week i have heard we combined because we dont have enough 8th graders like 12 or 13 at the most and we are playing off of the 7th grade schedule scared haha something similar happend like that last year we dident have enough 7th graders soo we combinded and had to play off of the 8th grade schedule....................i wouldent say he is our best 8th grader they are a couple others who could give alex a run!!!
Re: Portsmouth vs West
yeah,,I agree he is ONE of the better 8th graders.
who scored the touchdowns today?
who scored the touchdowns today?

I totally agree. I believe that if the 7th grade team would have known that the majority of the starting 12 were 8th graders they would have been more mentally prepared. I have seen this 7th grade team and in my opinion they did not play to their potential. They have played against the Portsmouth what is now 7th graders thru the pee wee and have beat them numerous times. The positive side is playing stronger boys will only make our boys better. Keep you heads up boys and get them next year, (unless they take the freshmen and let them play with the 8th grade).

Portsmouth did not play 11 eighth graders against West seventh grade team Portsmouth played 7 seventh graders. Portsmouth's QB is a very talented seventh grader.

Re: Portsmouth vs West
Does someone have a roster for Portsmouth? Speaking to one on the West kids that has has played for years, he only recognized two from last year being on the starting offense one being the QB, he is a very good athlete and good kid. It really helps when you have a strong line to protect. I know that West 7th grade QB is really good athlete as well it's just too bad that they couldn't have used their 8th grade team to block for him.
Re: Portsmouth vs West
Let me get this straight... Portsmouth has played 3 games so far, and against Jackson and Rock Hill they played the 8th grade, but against West they played the 7th grade... Is that right? Also, Portsmouth canceled the 8th Grade Ironton game, but are still playing our 7th grade. Maybe the Ironton AD & Portsmouth AD should chat again.

Re: Portsmouth vs West
not sure how many 8th, or 7th graders on the team, but do know jr high numbers are down,,,,the Portsmouth team, has LOST, 2 of 3 games.
Re: Portsmouth vs West
Why didn't they move the better 7th grade players up to the 8th grade team and let all the other 7th graders play to build stronger team for next year?
