The winner could very possibly get a rematch with the burg at ed miller stadium

One of the oldest rivalry games in Ohio and will be a tough game for the Tigers.
Portsmouth has a chance to ruin Ironton's season and that alone is makes this a tough game.
Ironton has improved during the season but still has room to improve play smart Ironton Portsmouth is going to give you all they got.
Ironton in a close game.

ironton still sitting at 9 right now in their region. the fighting tigers must find a wat to pull this one out. if the have any chance at all. both teams are 6-3. and quite frankly they don't like each other. and what a delight to see them both back in winning form, neither at a level like before. but none the less 6-3 and both fighting for their playoff lives. neither tam can worry about who's next. and win the battles 1 play at a time here. the fighting tigers need to control the line of scrimmage.

Ironton needs this win to win the OVC outright for the second straight year. and remain still unbeaten in league play since their entry into the league.

according to joe eitel's site Portsmouth is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. and ironton is still 9. and still on the outside looking in at the top 8.i think a victory over Portsmouth would move them up a few slots. but it is a must win game for the fighting tigers. and a perfect spoiler situation for the Trojans.

Good luck to Ironton. Win against an age old rival and you bring home an outright conference title and a likely playoff berth. Coaches shouldn't need to give many motivational speeches this week in I-Town.

got out my handy dandy calculator and did some math.
ironton's opponents are currently 51-38
Portsmouth's opponent to date are 44-49

ironton has outscored their opponents 211-127
Portsmouth's opponents have outscored the Trojans 267-283

all that means very little in a river rat rivalry game that goes back to when Tecumseh was a young lad. a fittingly they have it back at week 10. this game is at Portsmouth and it should be a packed house. ironton has pitched 2 shutouts against fairland and gahs. this one is for all the marbles in the circle. ironton wins they're in. they lose they need a lot of help and would almost certainly would be eliminated. 2 teams struggling to get back on track that really need this game. this should be a dandy.

Yep, and it's been that way for awhile. I really don't think there's anymore pressure on Ironton this week then there ever is. They have been in the playoffs since week 5 anyway for all intents and purposes. Ironton will handle PHS, win the OVC, and make the playoffs Friday night although I don't think there's anyway they make it past week 11.

if ironton gets past Portsmouth they'll just have to see how things shake out. I'm very proud of them though after a 1-3 start. worry about week 11 next week. nothing more important right now than this game with the Trojans. ironton would never look past Portsmouth, especially fighting for their playoff lives. but they have clawed their way back to a very respectable 6-3 and have beaten all league opponents to date. a win also gives them the league title outright. a loss could mean a co-championship with Chesapeake if the panthers win week 10.
