Coal Grove 31 Lucasville Valley 08 - FINAL

Post by coop »

Coal Grove took a BIG advantage of Valleys mistakes early and often (a blocked punt recovered on the 5, and a fumble recovered on the 2) taking a 24-0 lead into the locker room and did not look back. Valley cut it to 24-8 in the third but CG put up another score in the 4th to make the final 31-8. Valley had a safety, 2 fumbles and 2 blocked punts which led to 24 CG first half points and a turnover on downs at the 30 led to CG's 7 second half points. Coal Grove had all 31 points off of turnovers, but the bottom line was that CG physically DOMINATED this game from start to finish and deserved the win. The Delowder kid was a monster just dragging tacklers all night. I have no idea how that team was 0-2. Great job CG! As for the Indians, it's a good lesson for this young squad, and lets regroup! Good thing is we can get back on the horse and go this week @ Peake!

CG
Delowder: 34 Carries for 155 yards and 4 TD's
Brane: 9 carries for 23 yards

Valley
Evans: 10 carries for 19 yards
Shultz: 7 carries for 23 yards

Buckiewicz: 3 REC for 34 yards and 1 TD

Turnovers:

Valley 3 (2 fumbles, 1 TO on downs)

CG 2 (1 fumble, 1 INT)

Special Teams:

Valley: 2 punts blocked and a safety given up
CG: Blocked two punts and recorded a safety

Hey! It sounds like there might be a pulse in this squad after all! Delwader needs more carries than he's beed getting and it sounds like he proved it tonight. 34 is a good number. Congrats to the coaches and players. Now get ready for Minford and lets finally take one off 'em. Third time's a charm 8)

The Indians didn't play as a team the whole game. We went in thinking we were going to just show up and they took it to us. Hopefully we wont do this anymore more or that will happen to us all season. Grats to CG.

The CG that was on the field last night was the CG I saw at the previews. They actually played consistantly throughout the entire game. The last two games should've been won, in my opinion. CG just made a lot of crazy mistakes and bad play calling was a big factor as well. This team has a lot of potential...hopefully they will continue to play as a team. Congrats, CG. Oh, and good game, Frank!
