The Burg has to clean up there execution. They got the lead 14-0 and seemed to hit a lull. It seemed the line kinda took a break and they struggled for about a quarter and a half. They came out for the 2nd half and looked like the team everybody expects.

White was on the sidelines, just not in pads. Caleb Leach did the kicking tonight and hit on all 5 attempts. Not sure what was wrong with White.

Burg started out strong in the 1st, but like was said above, kind of hit a lull and didn't play up to their potential in that 2nd qtr.

Came out in the 3rd qtr and drove it right down the filed and scored.

Great goalline stand by the defense and then 2 plays later after the hold, Scotty Walker rips off a 98 yard run. Gives him the second longest run in school history, behind the 99 yarder Matt Weaver had against Minford a few years back.

It wasn't the prettiest win ever but it was a win. Not sure if Greenup is going to help the Burg in long run for computer points. They are off next week and then get into their district games the week after that.

Congrats Burg on another victory. Time to get ready for Rock Hill coming to the stadium next week.

I think burg will stay near the top if they keep winning. Sp will start winning more games and ironton should go 8-2 hopefully. Portsmouth should squeek out a few more games. Greenup is hurting. Nortwest and Rock Hill (if we beat them) are hurting. If we run the SOC, we should be right on top!

On Scott Walker's run, the nose of the ball was on the 1 yard marker and I was sure the tip was not over it. And the referee on the sidelines beside me, who was marking the ball position, had his foot on the goal side of the 1-yard mark. I would think that it should count as a 99-yard touchdown.

Image

Start of the play, the goal line is the long line. And Zach Frowine has scooted the ball slightly forward of its original position--as all centers seem to do when they position for the snap. There is, barely visible is this version, a small white mark beyond the ball that is the 1-yard hash mark.

That would tie Weavers run of 99 yards. And put him in the record books in ohio!

i think the coaching staff did a nice job of adjusting. gc had 8 and 9 players in the "box". 2nd half stayed with going out side the rest of the evening.

as for our qb passing the ball---one of the parents said after the game, he was a little weak because of the 200 shots he took today in the gym.

if this is true someone needs to put an end to that on game day.

:122246 :122246 :122246 what does that mean? 200 shots? If I had 200 shots, I would be on the sidelines talking to GOD! or satan :| 400 yds rushing against a team stacking the line is good. I dont think this team is acheiving what they can. Oline is good but doesnt do well so far on blitzes. We have more work to do and alittle time to do it. Players need to get together and push each other. Thats what young teams should and I think Burgs senior leaders will do that this week. Rock hill next week then the SOC sked.

The burg's Dline broke through on some plays very quickly but on a lot of plays the qb had all day and a nice pocket, very little push up front. GC exposed a weakness on that D that a team with the right personel will go to all night.

Passing wasn't the greatest last night and IMO, the interceptions that Schank threw was a direct result of the play going to the left and him trying to throw out of that.

Hell, college and pro QB's struggle trying to throw a deep ball going to their opposite side, still yet, I see it being called time after time in HS games. How about let him roll to his strong side, the right and see how far he can throw the ball. He just didn't have enough on both deep balls that got picked and on both plays, Stegman had his man beat. Maybe in 2 years when Schank has a little more are strength, he will be able to complete that pass and if what eddie is saying is true, then coach Woodward needs to knip that in the bud ASAP. He is playing football right now, not basketball.

Saw Tyler Lang sitting in the stands watching the game supporting his teammates. Has to be tough not being on the field, but just hang in there son. The bad thing is that you got hurt, the good thing is that you are just a Junior. You still have a bright future ahead of you in sports. Just ask Jamie Lewis from Oak Hill. She was undoubtedly the best girls basketball player to come out of this area and in her Junior year she blew out her knee, in the previews. Didn't get to play one minute of an actual game that year. She rehabbed and came back strong her Senior year and then went on to have a stellar 4 year career at Ohio State. It can be done, coming back from an injury like that and I believe you have the heart and desire to want to do that. Good luck in your recovery and I know this Pirate fan is looking forward to watching you on the field and the court next year.

Thanks for the compliment for GC's O-Line. They worked hard all week in practice, too.

It showed, they played a nice ballgame. I was impressed with the qb as well, he took some shots but he played a good game.

Wheelersburg doesn't have a home shirt with Craigmiles's number he prefers. One would think Burg could afford one for him LOL.For us old Burg fans: FYI Craigmiles is Tate Cunningham's nephew. He has the talent but not the leg strength Tate had.Now he(Tate) was one hard running back.My son played on that team and he told me Tate's leg strength was unbelievable. If Tyler had that too what a football player. But his quickness is probably better.

Can anyone tell me why Aaron White wasn't doing any kicking last night? Was he hurt or have they just decided to go with Leach who seemed to do a very good job?

Just curious.
