Chilly really steps it up last night and gets one of those "complete" wins. Maybe the best the Cavs have played (Offense, Defense, Special teams, and Kicking) from snap one 'til the final gun in one game all year as a TEAM. Still plenty of work to do (wrapping on tackling and staying with their blocks on the o-line) as the halway point of the season is here, but anytime you can go on the road in a league game against your oldest rival and win that comfortably, it's a good feeling. But good, bad, or sloppy play from earlier this season aside, the most impressive part about Chilly last night was their demeanor coming out of that locker room right before kickoff. Even someone who had not seen them this year could tell this team was ready to fight... that alone is half the battle, or more, in high school football. And, nothing short of that fire and mentality will allow you guys to achieve your goals the rest of the year... whatever it was that put you in that state of mind, bottle it, shake it up, and have another swallow next friday @ 6:30, or so.
On a side note, quite the bitter-sweet evening last night as it hit me while listening to the National Anthem during that beautiful sunset... the Lady that is Spartan Stadium is on her "Victory Lap" this year. Based on the drawing on the cover of the football program, i'm sure alot of Trojan fans are looking forward to their new facility next fall. But, as my brother mentioned to me as we watched last night's game, "name another place in southern Ohio you would rather watch a "big" High School football game?" And you know, I really could not put ANY of the newer ones atop of Spartan Stadium. Some of the best nights I ever had as a HS football fan have been spent there. The history, character, setting, and charm of that place is second to none, and I for one will surely miss the old gal.

Congratulations to the Cavaliers on the win. They were simply the better team last night.........without question the most talented team Portsmouth has faced this year.
The Trojans self-destructed a couple of times with the punting team in the first half, giving the Cavaliers great field position in which CHS converted into scores. A couple of holding penalties really hurt Portsmouth after the Trojans made some nice yardage.
Portsmouth moved the ball well on the Cavaliers defense, and I just wish we could have converted that first drive into a TD..........it might have been a different ballgame if that happened. The placekicking continues to improve with Justin Smith who also does a nice job kicking off.
The kicker from Chillicothe is one of the best I have ever seen in high school football......he is big time NCAA D1 kicker...........he was kicking extra points OVER our scoreboard..........NO ONE does that............
GO TROJANS!!!

The defense missed some coverage and the offense missed a chance to punch in a couple more scores. But all and all, I think they continue to improve. This up-coming week the CAVS will have to bring their A game and be prepared. Ironton is coming to town![]()

Good luck to our old rivals from the river the rest of the season.
One week at a time.

Portsmouth is moving next year? I thought they were going to renevate Spartan Stadium? I agree on the Stadium being the finest in Southern Ohio. From a former Chilli player who played at places like Upper Arlington, Grove City, Dublin, Brookhaven, etc., I can honestly say my favorite stadium(not feild) to play in was Spartan Stadium. The atmusphere, the histury, the setting, and beating the Trojans
made that place a special stadium. The best I ever played in.
