I don't think that they would want the #2. If I was Portsmouth, I would want the #3. The #3, as Dave stated above has what appears to be the easier path to Columbus.
Compare the paths, assuming all higher seeds win, of the two seeds and see what you would prefer:
#3:
Sect: Oak Hill/Coal Grove (Not sure who gets the #6 at Jackson..Guess is Oak Hill)
District: Wellston/Southeastern
District: Peebles/Eastern Brown
Regional: New Phily winner
Regional: Chesy/Ironton/Valley
#2
Sect: Possibly Burg as a #10
District: Huntington/Piketon
District: Valley
Regional: Chesapeake
Regional: Ironton
This might not be real clear, but I think the #3 is the hot spot at Jackson.

I'm all for it!!Tobias wrote:...or will the SOC have such a big block to place Valley into the #3 spot and force Portsmouth and Ironton into the #2 and #4 positions...
....I think this is most plausible...
My prediction:
#1 Chesapeake
#2 Portsmouth
#3 Valley
#4 Ironton
.....
we shall see...

If "The Peake" loses to Fairland this Friday will that drop them to the #3 spot?

Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
If the peak would lose, and portsmouth lost to chilly, and Ironton lost to the prep school from N.C,MAN that would be a mess, I dont know ;that would be hard to say . Valley could end up #1 seed . As for Ports , Peak , Ironton ? That is if Valley wins.Just My Opinion wrote:If "The Peake" loses to Fairland this Friday will that drop them to the #3 spot?
Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
I'll bet 6 zillion dollars Valley doesn't get the #1 seed no matters what happens.
Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
I92..... Care to shed some light on your reasons why Valley would'nt get the #1 ?

Because there is no way in hell.
I'm not saying they shouldn't be considered....just saying there's no way in hell they'll get it.

IMO Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Ironton and Valley are all good teams. I look for some deep tournament runs. If I had to pick a favorite it would be Chesapeake because of their defense but they can't get in to any foul trouble.
Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
I 92..... Thx for sharing that insight as to your reasons why Valley would'nt get the #1 . I completely understand your reasoning now !
Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
Tobias LOL your're hilarious ! But What if Oak Hill leans toward the OVC and puts Chessy in the #3 spot and gives Oak Hill the #5 and Valley the #1 and Ports the #2 and Itown the #4 lots of variables on this . But theres no way in HELL Valley gets the #1 LOL !!!!!!!!
Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
What interesting reading. Many different ways this one could go. Anyone that thinks they know for sure, will probably be surprised. Another week of basketball could make it more clear or even worse. To say the least, I'd say several phone calls and parking lot meeting will occur before the draw.

Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
Wow!!! The top 4 teams just keep rolling on. Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Valley all with double digit wins against solid teams tonight, while Ironton gave a VERY talented team all they wanted and more tonight! I really believe even more that these four teams have completely separated themselves from the pack in the Southeast D-3 District.
Re: Division 3 Sectional at Jackson
Again.....Minford and Oak Hill will want the 5?....I don't know their coaches thoughts at all....but if they'd rather face Valley than Ironton....then they could sway things that way.
I do agree Valley probably get the 3 as of now.
