WK 5 Rock Hill @ Wheelersburg
Re: WK 5 Rock Hill @ Wheelersburg
Don't know much about Rock Hill other than watching them in the West game. Seem to run the ball against Valley but mainly a passing team against West. Burg must prepare for either case but I would assume RH will throw the football. Lack of a solid defense will prove costly.
My Prediction is the Pirates dispose of the Redmen and sail to 5-0 on the season
Pirates 38
Rock Hill 6

Impressive win by the Burg tonight. Turned the earlly turnovers into quick scores, reason for the 35-0 1st qtr. score.
Burg looked really good on the offensive side of the ball. Pretty much did whatever they wanted on offense. Scored the first 7 times they touched the ball, one of them being a FG.
RH qb, looked good at times. Had trouble picking up the Burg LB's who stepped in front of a couple of his passes for int's. Does have a strong arm though. Should be fun for the RH fans to watch this young man the next 3 1/2 years at the varsity level. The last time a Freshman QB came to town, it was Miles Schlichter of Miami Trace and Burg manhandled him about the same way. He went on to have a stellar career at Miami Trace. Should be an interesting game next year at Rock Hill. Burg will be returning alot of starters on both sides of the ball next year.
Good luck Redmen the rest of the season.
Great job Pirates!!!! Now it is on to the second season, SOC league play.

Re: WK 5 Rock Hill @ Wheelersburg
Congratulations to Wheelersburg... they are the real deal... speed and fundamentals and a class act, a dangerous combo for opponents... I would love to see them play West at seasons end... As for Rock Hill... nothing has changed... we knew we were young and we knew we would have some self-destructive moments... good teams exploit your mistakes... that's one of the lessons young teams have to learn if they are to get better and Wheelersburg provided exploitation 101 tonight... but the question is will you learn from the mistakes and become better or do you tuck your tail between your legs and quit... I think I know these RH boys and coaches and I believe they will move forward... we knew our pre-conference schedule was the toughest in a couple years, but if you want to be the best you have to play the best... hey , I'm all for it... I say schedule Ironton every year as well... there is no logical argument against that game... I find no consolation when Ironton loses... I say don't cheer for another teams loss if you are not willing to play them your self! Oh well, enough of my soap box... back to the game... Now will be the time for those who know little about developing a winning program to start looking for a scape goat... some will call out the coaches, while others will point fingers else where... that would be the mentality of a loser... Now is the time for cool heads to prevail... no need to push any panic buttons... Wheelersburg had a lot to do with RH's problems tonight... RH players need to step up big time... we'll now see what kind of character you have... we'll see if you want to develop into champions or if it's just a bunch of talk... we need every body playing every down... there is never a time to take a play off... you have to go head hunting every down... team leaders the time to step up is NOW.. your team is looking for answers and they have to see confidence in your eyes - not fear - and not question marks! This week of practice will be key not only physically to prepare but starting about Wednesday mentally... Next week is homecoming against Fairland... a NEW SEASON begins... play for a conference championship... always play for something! As for our young QB... he is in a tough position... one that usually gets more blame than it deserves when things go wrong, and more credit than it deserves when things go right... this kid is a winner... mark my words, this loss will bother him alot, but it won't break him! I look for his best carreer performance next week... because winners bounce back, and he is a winner... as for the other leaders on the team... the few seniors we have left and the 17+juniors... time to step up boys... we have half a season left - let's make it the best half!!!!

Re: WK 5 Rock Hill @ Wheelersburg
Nice post allsport. I watched the West/Rock Hill game last week on NexTVSports and I was shocked that the Burg manhandled the Redmen the way they did. I figured the Burg would win, but I never envisioned a 45-0 hafttime lead after the way they played against West. RH looked really good moving the ball against West via the pass and I figured the Pirates might have some problems there as well, but I think the INT on the first play of the game set the table on that one. The Burgs running game was clicking on all cylinders tonight and the defense was just awesome.
Either RH played really inspired ball last week against the Siders or maybe West just isn't as strong as they think they are. I guess we'll find out in week #10.
Good luck to the Redmen the rest of the season. They are young and will mature as the season goes on. I see some good things in the future for them.

Thanks... I believed RH did play inspired ball against West... but again one of the toughest lessons to get through to young teams is the need to perform consistantly week in and week out -every man/every down... Also, again I agree that the opening turnover probably shook our confidence tonight and then a fumble and before you know it your down by a bunch... one of the signs of experience is the ability to stop the bleeding quickly... I think they'll learn that... plus Wheelersburg gave us some much needed experience tonight... I am so glad to see our program playing quality programs such as your's... I want my son to be challenged in life and experience what it feels like to go up against the best... how else will he ever learn to realize his ultimate potential... Keep it up Rock Hill... you will be a better team for having played Wheelersburg tonight! And best of luck to Wheelersburg... you guys showed alot of class and acted as if you had won before... best of luck this season and beyond... see ya at The Hill next season... BTW... since we scored last tonight, doesn't that give us the momentum going into next years game?

Hey Hill, Keep your head up,Coach Knipp along with the rest of the staff knows about scheduleing They might be able to look down the hill now,but they better be ready to look at the kings of the mountain!Lets get the o.v.c. started off the right way, keep playing the system that you're taught, and it can still be a good season. If for no other reason lets do it for the seniors!

Great post allsport. With what all that both teams have coming back next year, that game at your place should be alot better then the game last night.
Thanks for the kudos on Burg being a class act. Burg always gets a bad rap of being cocky and arrogant, all just because they have a winning program year in and out, but one thing that is certain, win or lose, you will never see a Burg athlete try and show up an opponent by getting in there face and or mouthing off. If they do and they get caught, you better believe their behind will be on the siideline before they knew what hit them.
I was very impressed with the way Rock Hill kept there composure. Some teams would have been cheapshoting and playing dirty just because they are getting it handed to them. Never saw any of that tonight and really liked the way Rock Hill still had some fight in them right to the very end.
Respect is not something that is given to you, it is something you earnand. RH earned my respect tonight by the way those young men handled theirselves on the field. Good luck in the upcoming OVC schedule.
As for the momentum going into next year's game, will just have to see.

Re: WK 5 Rock Hill @ Wheelersburg
Rock Hill is a young team with what will be an awesome quarterback here in a few years. He has impressive size and does not look like or plays like a freshman. Several of the incompletions and interceptions could have been avoided with better play on the receivers part. Of course that first play did set the tone and that was not good for such a young team.
As far as I am concerned, you can count that last touchdown as momentum going into next year. But that is all you get for free on the next contest. You have to earn anything else.
