So let me get this straight. You say he should get free tickets just for running a web site?
Should we give JJ and Matt free tickets as well.
If 50 people had web sites/blogs and all wanted passes thats 300 bucks gone.
Also the guy at the visitors gate at the Ironton-Gallia game told me "Gallia handed him a ton of "Seoal"passes".

Also I'm not asking to get in free as I sell the split the pot unconditionally.I don't need someone telling me how great I am for what I do.I get that satisfaction knowing that there was a child in need, that got what he or she needed to play.

Thats kinda of messed up you guys not getting in for free. Thats the least the school could do for Kantucky for all the great work he does.

Itown you mean the Tiger Clan doesnt even get in for free? You guys should for all the money you raise for the school. You both peform a valuable service to the school.

Im sure JJ gets in games for free.

No we don't get in free, many people may dispute this but we are not apart of the school system. We raise the money for the kids and for the scholarships we give away.

Ok, first of all. I have never asked to get in free, nor would I want to do so. The school needs the money more than I do. Let me also say this, NOT one Ironton person has stepped up here and said one thing in my defense on this thread...Portsmouth, Gallia Academy and Russell fans have..but not one Ironton person...that sure seems odd to me. I can't tell you how many of them from other schools have told me how they'd be tickled to have me do their site. I'm sure that some would love me to leave Ironton at Ironton too.

Secondly...if we wish to blow our own horns..Yeah...Irontonfootball.com IS A PRIVATE WEBSITE! Why did I start it? simply because I loved going to see Ironton football games and I loved the atmosphere that Ironton enjoyed in the 80's and 90's and thought, foolishly I guess, that the site might help bring that back. Instead, it seems to have caused nothing but strife and trouble. Perhaps it was a terrible idea to start with? Something to look at is that there have been 6,986 'unique visitor's' to IFC in the last 30 days. That is without a message board too.

Anyway, there has never been one single dime made off of it by me or anyone else...ever! never ever never! How much? NOT A PENNY! It was started when this group of seniors were in the fifth grade! Since that time..I have spent, out of my own pocket, over $1400.00 in web hosting fees. That doesn't include the money I spent on software that I have used for it. I have traveled many times to games, especially the underclassmen for the sole purpose of getting photographs for the kids. I paid for the gas, paid the admission..took the photos, came back home, took my time editing and then uploaded them.

Next...I have used and put wear and tear on my camera equipment and trust me, it ain't cheap. I have invested literally hundreds upon hundreds of hours on it. I have typed up myself every single word on Ironton Football Dot Com! There's not a bunch of fellars to cut up with and have fun and joke with then..it's just me..and my computer. Right now there are over 900 Pages on IFC. That's a lot of typing! Yeah..I'm sure that some here might feel the need to remind me that no one asked me to do it to start with. Don't think I don't really appreciate that either..that's so special. I also do not have the school sending home pamplets encouraging the kids to visit IrontonFootball.Com either..

Ironton Football Dot Com has never had a single ad on it. I could have made money off it in that way if I wanted to have done so..after all, it was and still is, A PRIVATE WEBSITE, to do with as I please..but..I didn't want to take the chance that something off color might appear in an ad and secondly, I didn't want to mess up the site with ads. I was and am still willing to pay for it out of my own pocket to stop both from happening.

You wanta talk about time, do you? I've been to every game...away..and at home. For the most part, I have ever since the site was started. Last Friday night, because I was installing a new feature on this private website..I was up till 4:30 in the morning working on it. I never got to see the game Friday..(ever try to watch a game through a view finder?) as I was shooting it..I came home, edited and then uploaded my photos..adjusted the site and then started working on installing the blog and getting it up and running. Again, it was 4:30 before I quit on it. That's 5.5 hours of working on the site in one night. Again..no one to cut up with and have fun...just me..and the computer. Unless you have ever built a website..you'll never know how much work is in keeping one up!

Now, who else? let's not forget the Jim Ridgeway was helping me last year with photos..he never made a dime off them..gave up his time, used his equipment and done his own editing..most of the time to get trashed over it.

Bob Vaughn? he done the video for the site last year. He'd get to the games an hour and a half before they started most of the time. He'd then, have to drag all his video equipment to set up...shoot the game (again, ever try to watch on through a view finder?) then..have to tear it all back down again. He'd then load it all onto his computer...take HIS TIME to edit them...and then..wanta know the kicker? He and Jim would come to my house..many times in the middle of the night..1 or 2 in the morning or later..bringing me their photos and Bob's video TO MY HOUSE just so you people would have them...what did they get for that? trashed! That's why YOU PEOPLE don't have video on the website this year by the way. Again..I'm sure some might feel the need here to remind me..no one asked us to do so..again, no need, we know it already.

You know, You don't have to thank me..but..did any of you ever take a minute to thank Jim and Bob for what they done for you guys? How many parents got free video and photos because of these guys?! Did anyone say...man, how many schools have video highlights on them like our school does?

How much money did these guy's make? notta single dime!

An excellent post Kantucky II. I think it is time to combine wonderful resources and unbelievable talent. How about a sit down between Mr. Vaughn, Mr. Ridgeway, yourself, Mr. Shotsky and Mr. Sandborn? There is 5 unreal talented guys that together could really produce a great website. If those 5 guys ever got their heads together in a room, we would be talking about the best sites in all of sports, not just high school.
Why all the talk about private websites? I think all 5 of you should get together, in a spirit of harmony and work this as a business. If you dont feel comfortable making a profit, give the profit back to the schools or to the community. I for one think you all should be compensated for your talent and your time. When it comes to donating your time to kids, it is almost always overlooked by the community. However, those rare times when kids thank you and some parents thank you, it is well worth the effort. I don't believe you should allow the actions of one or a few people to ruin, such a needed commodity in our town.

irontonfootball.com is without a doubt the best high school website in at least our half of the state. I know college websites that have won awards, that arent as nice as this site. Here's hoping you will continue to operate.

kantucky does a great job for Ironton football, it's players, their parents, and fans. I know I've enjoyed his website for the past 6-7 years. You'd have to be really passionate about something to put that much time and effort into it and not ask or receive one penny from it. There are webmasters out there getting paid major bucks for what kantucky does for free. That in itself makes a statement on kantucky's passion for Ironton football.

That being said, I wouldn't knock on anyone that puts forth any effort to help the students at Ironton or any other school. Either it be standing on the asphalt for a couple hours a week, typing on a computer till the late hours in the morning, or traveling to game to game to take photographs of various local schools. It's all appreciated and most importantly, it's all personal time being well spent on behalf of others.

Now on to the gas prices. It will not effect me this week. Miss Zap has to be prepped for neck surgery Friday afternoon so my time will be spent with her. Hope everyone has a safe trip no matter where their destination.

kantuck: As you know, I've been out of town all weekend, but, would have gladly said some kind words about your site had I been at a computer. This comes from one appreciative mom who has benefited from many pictures from your site. For years, I too, spent my time behind the camera and to be able to watch a game when your child is playing and still have great pictures from it is priceless. Know I and many others are very grateful for the time, money and effort you put into a classy site. It's great to go and look at pictures from way back and have records and scores at your fingertips. If you stay "PRIVATE", the consolation is you don't have to answer to anyone and we still reap the benefits. Thank you for that! Bigger isn't alway better.

Sorry I hadn't been near a computer this weekend, Kantucky, I take care of my mom on my weekends off except for when I am at the game. Many thanks for all you and the other guys do taking pictures of the kids. I have said it before and will again, I love your website and am thankful that there are men like you taking the time to go to all the games and take pictures of the kids. Thanks again.

Seriously... I don't know why ANYONE would complain about irontonfootball.com. How long ago was it that it was rated in Sports Illustrated as one of the best prep sports sites or sports sites in general? Anyway, it is great free service to Ironton football fans that any school would be proud to call their own (that is if it had their OWN school's content and not Ironton's... cause that would be weird).

As a builder of many-a-website, and none that have been even 1/4 of 900 pages... I can tell you that's a lot of work. And it's not like it's just some generic site... it has or has had plenty of great features in the time it's been up (for instance: great photos, video, history, match-up history) yada yada yada.

Kantuck... I'm sure there are many who want you to take IrontonFootball.com because they know the popularity the site has and they want it. It's amazing how much hate stems from jealousy.

kantucky'
With my Dad being ill and not being able to come to the home games I have a couple extra tickets. Let me know and you are welcome to them. You , Jim, or Bob are always welcome. I also know a very nice lady who would let you park on her b-ball court just a block away. If I have never said it I appreciate all you guys. Kent I can't say enough about. He took senior pictures of Ryan and Rachel for me. I would have never been able to afford them. They are studio quality and he is a good friend.Jim and Bob did their work because they love it. They didn't deserve any of the treatment they got but sometimes that's life. Don't let a few people ruin something youlove. They are not worth it.
