Athens deserves it. They are playing well.
Funny, they left the SEOAL so Chillicothe didn't schedule them so they could add a "tougher" opponent. (Bishop Watterson)
Now I wish we could have added Watterson while keeping Athens because it might come into play when seeding.
As it turns out Athens is as tough as they come this year in the southeast district.

Re: The Power Outage Edition of the Top 10, A New #1
After a couple of down years after winning districts from 2001-2004, Athens appears to have a stronger team this year. Who knows who really deserves to be ranked #1 right now, but Athens has proved to have a very tough defense and the offense has kicked started after the first few games. Lots of competitive teams this year in the Southeast district. It should be a fun couple of weeks until the seeding meeting.
I know the soccer folks at Athens were dissapointed to drop out of the SEOAL, but it's nice to see them continue to play several SEOAL teams this year. I know Athens would have liked to face Chillicothe in the regular season. The two teams scrimmaged (Athens won 3-2), but scrimmages are just scrimmages and I'm sure both teams are very different teams now. Hopefully, SEOAL teams will continue to want to schedule with Athens and Athens can take advantage of an independent schedule to add a Columbus school or two.

Looks like Ironton St. Joe is ranked higher than wheelersburg and south webster. Congrats Flyers! Keep up the strong work!
