Ironton At Ashland JV And We Supposedly Have Mystery Flags?
Re: Ironton At Ashland JV And We Supposedly Have Mystery Flags?
It's a new system, called turf flags, they pop up out of the turf like a field sprinkler system. This just in Putnam Stadium was chosen as a testing site for the new system by the company. The only requirment is your opp. must wear orange and black and come across a river to get to your stadium.

Copy of a post on the Jr. High forum:
9/18 8th Grade:
Ironton 40 Wheelersburg 20
It's easy to complain about officiating when you lose, but Ironton won by 20 in this one and this ranks right up there with one of the worst officiated game I have ever seen. Numerous flags on Ironton long runs and TD plays that called them back and 2 of the officials were from Ironton.
Message to those officials: YOU ARE NOT THE SHOW, IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE KIDS! NO ONE CARES THAT YOU ARE THERE!

2 officials were from Ironton. The other 2 are from Wheelersburg (or if the one isnt from the burg he is from the surrounding area.) How many flags against Ironton did the official from Ironton throw? Also if the penalty is comitted whether the team is winning or losing or no matter where the ref is from isnt he supposed to throw the flag or just let it go because he's from Ironton? How is that fair to the other team. An official is supposed to be fair no matter what teams he is officiating.

You missed the point... The officials from Ironton were trying to go above and beyond to prove that they were not in favor of Ironton and let the game and penalties get completely out of control. I would estimate Ironton had 15 penalties and only 1 was false start or offsides. There were so many block in the back calls or "aiding the runner" calls on consecutive plays. How many times have you seen that called? I had to ask someone what the hand gesture meant because I had never seen it. It is not like the Ironton 8th grade team is mistake prone or dirty, because they are not. This was clearly a homer job and we still won, which is why my complaining about it cannot be sour grapes.

I also asked a question, how many of the flags were called by the Ironton Ref ? Correct me if Im wrong, but I am thinking that you think the Ironton refs unfairly called penalities on the Ironton team?? Why would they want to do that? As fair as the signal for the aiding the runner call, there are classes throughout the tristate usually mid summer if your interested in learning.

You obviously have more than a casual interest in this . The Ironton official and the head of the crew who is an Ironton guy should not have let the game and the other 2 officials get that out of hand. Out of hand? Well, an Ironton mother was kicked out of the game for arguing from the "stands" without using profanity? A Wheelersburg player #63 caught a pass for a big gain without a flag and the coach was screaming to the officials that he was inelligible. All the Ironton fans heard him, so I don't know how the officials didn't. You can make all the smartypants comments you want about the aiding the runner calls, but how often is that ever called? Then on 2 consecutive plays it gets called? Give me a break!
As far as their motivation for all this... I don't know whether the Ironton officials were scared to say something to their obviously partial colleagues or they are mad because they do not get alot of Ironton home games, but they sure had an issue that prevented them from seeing what was going on around them. Once again, THE KIDS ARE THE ONES THAT ARE GETTING HURT IN THIS and that is why it makes me so mad!

im not reposting my answer on this board, it is in the jr high forum where it should be. Why this was posted under the jv, varsity football board is beyond me, the mods might want to move these posts to the jr board. Thanks!

Refs are like politicians...corrupt, stupid, and not to be trusted I never liked refs while I was playing but they are just trying to do their job no matter how "biased" they may seem Death to ZEBRAS!
