Their is nobody else. Lang and the star freshman Whitley both blew their knee out. If Stegman gets in foul trouble like he did last year, it will get ugly real quick.

Heard Burg won't have much due to knee injuries so they probably won't be a factor. Could be wrong.. but just my assumption.

Wow...didn't know Lang would be out for basketball too and hadn't heard about Whitely either. Regardless, they'll still be a decent team but I'd probably put Northwest and Minford in front of them on that information.*

I will go with Burg winning it because of coaching, I honestly think Barrick is much better at every part of the game than anyone else in our league- they too have an incredible freshman named Whitley who i wonder if he will get to play some varsity this year.

I foresee only 1 freshman (Kretzer) playing varsity this season for Waverly. Who would the other be? How does the exchange student look in the gym?

No, Stegman DID NOT tear his rotator cuff, another student separated his shoulder.

I doubt Kelly plays varsity for Waverly- i have no idea who they have for point guard but to play a freshman there would seem a little rough. Thinking back to last year and the jv team -and i only remember one kid ready to move up and i think he moved to Eastern. Surely they played summer ball so they have something in mind.

I also doubt that Kelly plays varsity for the Tigers. I would be very surprised if he did. He's not ready for the varsity level. It would benefit him more to play freshman or JV ball this season.

Oak Hill is clearly the best team in the SOC...but other than them northwest, Wheelersbirg, minford, valley, waverly is about the same in talent wise! then there is south webster and west they should battle for the last 2 spots in the SOC.

My Prediction:
1. Oak Hill
2. Northwest
3. Minford
4. Wheelersburg
5. Valley
6. Waverly
7. West
8. South Webster

valley will have some runnin vets returning but will also have some runnin freshmen that could contribute quickly. i have watched the freshmen group play alot, used to winning and dont seem to get rattled in tight games they have size and savvy

The SOC runs through Tom Barrick and Wheelersburg High School. Like it or not. You want to win the conference, thats who you have to beat year in and year out. They will be just fine this year.

The SOC II should be extremely balanced from top to bottom this year. No team can take a night off. Oak Hill is obviously the favorite returning all 5 starters. My Minford Falcons should be right up there returning Smith, Price, Brisker, and the addition of Cowgill. Burg is Burg, Barrick always gets the job done. Northwest and Waverly will both be solid and Webster and Valley are greatly improved. Should be an exciting race for the SOC crown this year.

Waverly is going to be a force. They may not win every game but they will be in them. The Tigers lost many close games last year and should improve this season. Waverly's starting five could all be over 6 feet. 6'7" (Lundin), 6'5" (Kretzer), 6'4" (Roback), 6'3" (Martin), 6'1" (Blanford).
Lundin is working very hard and will be a force on the boards. We all know Martin and Roback crashed the boards last season. This is going to be a much different team with nothing to lose.
