the wind plays a big part in routine fly balls going out of the park at meigs. where the stadium sits on top of the hill the wind picks up a lot faster up there turning routine fly balls to the left fielder into a round tripper. the field i may add though is very well maintained the coaches and players work constantly to keep the field in game shape. the season starts soon, any new predictions for the league?
The Ohio will have good competition this year. Meigs of course being the favorite, but Belpre will have 7 returning starters from last year. Athens should put some heat on these two teams also.
Andy D. was actually the ace of the staff by seasons end. The big leftee could have signed professionally but chose to further his education. Rumor has it, that the Red Sox offered a one year contract but he wanted long term security so he refused the offer. He had missed three seasons prior due to volunteer work as a missionary overseas, but he still didn't miss a beat when he returned as he was clocked at 99-100 mph on more than one occassion. Don't be surprised if he is picked up sometime after the All-Star beak by a contending team. Just remember you heard it here first.
Steely Dan, Cline has taken hitting lessons at Ohio University for three years, he has a personal trainer to make sure he is the best shape possible and has been throwing all winter. He played and pitched for the Athens American Legion team and then played and pitched in the fall league in Lancaster. He wants to play at the next level and is willing to do what it takes to get there. I'm sure he's as focused as anyone in the area. His dedication to the sport should not be in question.
Probably just a gut reaction. We've been hammered on most of the sites since this website went up. As you get older your sense of humor may take a hit.
Belpre will be a tough team to beat this year. They are returning 7 starters. including All TVC members Jared Azar,Tyler Watkins, and Ashton Packard. Packard and Watkins were named to the all-district team. They have plenty of talent.
It looks like the league will be loaded with experienced players. Athens has one player who will be starting for the fourth year, 5 that will be starting for the 3rd straight year, and one that started last year. Athens has all their pitchers back except for Steven Eberts. We are looking forward to the competition.
I have had the good fortune of watching Athens play many times against Warren the past 3 seasons. They keep getting better each season and will be better this year than last because of a solid pitching staff. Jared Cline is the real deal.
Looking forward to the 2 non-league match-ups with the Bulldogs this season.
