From 04 to 10 the Athens head coaches were sheeting down their legs whenever they saw those orange helmets. Then in 11 they used the player who was not on the roster, hmm hmm cheat  , to kick the field goal. Then came Burrow, and last year the season of shame. This year will be the return to the sheeting down the leg. Hope he wears dark pants.

A deep pass would be a "gadget" play for NY, but not for Athens. That's their best offense, well, maybe their only offense.

Raider to be correct Athens is 62% Run and 38%Pass.
Nelsonville-York is 75% Run and 25% Pass.

If NY has to pass the game is over. They are a run first, run second, and if they can't run it they'll try throwing it type of team.

The Buckeyes can throw the ball, they just haven't really needed to. I don't think they will need to much on Friday either.

I will go with 85-15 in favor of a wrinkle in the first series.
I would be surprised if that happens, OMG they had trouble kicking an extra point against the Chiefs!

Flea flicker or half-back pass is what I am thinking. Like their first play from scrimmage against Warren a couple years back.

If Athens is successful with the passing game, they can score quick! The hounds has the better kicking game!

Yes they can throw it. But completing it is an issue. They will be best to stick to the running game. If they have to pass it they are in trouble.

NY averages 319 yards a game on the ground and 109 through the air.
3 of the 6 picks that Edwards has thrown were in week 1.
NY will go to the Air when/if they need or want to.

They needed to go to the air against NC, and LC. Also the first half against Logan. That didn't work out for them. As I said, when/if they actually have to pass the ball they are in trouble. But the ground game has been good for them, so as you said they haven't had to pass except in the above games. It's much easier to pass when you are gashing them on the ground.

The passing game has gotten better since weeks 2 and 3.
I think the emotions of losing Coach and several mistakes (wr lining up offsides multiple times and other needless penalties) contributed to the slow start against Logan.

Yes the passing game has gotten better as the opponents have gotten worse. As I said, when you are running the ball up and down the field, then throw a short pass in there it is much easier to complete than if you have to pass. I guess we'll see if/when they actually have to pass. So far when they've had to pass it hasn't worked out very well for them.

The question is, is Athens capable of stopping the run?

And that's the bottom line, b/c Stone Cold said so....

No! NY will run the ball all night. Athens' only hope is to out score them, and with the defense NY has been playing that will be tough to do. Good luck to both teams and stay healthy for the post season for the winner.
