Re: Whiteoak @ Portsmouth, 1/10
This should be a fun test for Whiteoak. Tests like these seem to give Whiteoak the advantage over teams with better records in the postseason. Portsmouth has great athleticism all around the court, good size and always play hard for their coach. Kudos to Whiteoak for playing tough out of league road games. Whiteoak won't back down from this challenge. They have some gritty kids with some talent and are also well-coached. If Whiteoak can jump out quickly like they did at Oak Hill but avoid foul trouble....well, we'll see.
I have a prior commitment but will try to catch this one.

Whiteoak comming off a disappointing loss to Eastern Brown where they failed to execute in the last couple of minutes to loose by 12. They do have good talent and I think will be in this game till the final horn blows. Portsmouth at home has the advantage. Portsmouths by 5.

That's VERY optimistic. Whiteoak has a decent team in the league this season but I was being generous saying a low 20 something margin.rollman wrote:Whiteoak comming off a disappointing loss to Eastern Brown where they failed to execute in the last couple of minutes to loose by 12. Portsmouth was rolling for sure! Portsmouth's quickness and Dion's size was too much for Whiteoak. McKinley ended up with 25 or 27 and there just wasn't a matchup available for his 6'6 frame and his great ability to use his body to keep the ball safe. Wayne Evans ability to create assists was impressive to say the least. I would like to know his assist total. Most impressively those kids play extremely hard for Coach Collins and they are going to give the Final 4 another run.
For Whiteoak Doc Seip played an excellent ballgame with 19 points, numerous rebounds and a lot of altered shots....and a dunk. I thought Blake Trueblood played very well in his minutes off the bench. Whiteoak's guards had an incredible challenge in keeping the ball from the extremely quick Trojan players. They won't see another team like it....they'll be better for it....and some might be surprised how next year's game will go. Mo Town will be ready.
Whiteoak will bounce back and be extremely competitive in the SHL and a team to avoid in the D4 tourney.
Being a huge baseball fan I was very happy that they honored Al Oliver (over 2700 career hits, batting champion) and Larry Hisle (all-star 15 year career)....those are two of the very finest athletes in the entire history of the SE district...can't imagine how good their teams were back then with those two.

With the gas money spent and the amount of concession items I purchased, I completely regret the decision of attending this game. But what can you expect on a Tuesday night.
