Well that Falcons certainly had their oppurtunities tonight. Very close game that came down to mistakes, Minford made more than wheelersburg. 4 turnovers, as well as having them sacked on 3rd down twice in the same drive and not being able to make the tackle, this resulted on one of the scores for wheelersburg. I will say this, wheelersburg has some of the best ball fakes I have ever seen. Very hard fought game by both teams tonight. Keep your heads up Falcons, learn from your mistakes and get better. Hopefully wheelersburg beats west now. Best wishes for the pirates less we meet again later on. :)

The ref's suckd! im sorry they did. they had no idea what they was doing. EX..Facemask on BURG, should have been on Minford, but they gave us a first and 12????? Im just saying that they SUCKD tonite!

We are...The BURG

That facemask call was correst as I was standing right in front of it, the ball carrier pushed up on the defenders facemask and as I understand that is a penalty. You can push down just not up. I didn't think the refs were great either way, but were not a determining factor in the game.

Congrats to the Burg on a hard fought win. Great crowd on both sides tonight. I have a feeling that this is going to be a rivalry in a few years. Good luck the rest of the way. :122249

Ironfalcon you are right about the call. The Burg player tried to stiff armed Oesch but grabbed facemask instead.

This game CANNOT be blamed on the refs.

I thought they called a fair game. And nobody from Minford with their right mind is blaming the refs.

congrats to the pirates....minford gave the ball away too many times to expect to win...i am suprised that the game was so close with all those turn overs......dont want to hear either team crying about the officiating as it was evenly called all night and they let the boys play......was an excellent game all around..... everyone at the game got their money's worth....I believe these two teams will meet again in the playoffs....Good luck to both teams the rest of the way!!!

I am NOT blaming the refs!! Just saying...I have already been textd on my cell phone from Minford fans(my friends) asking me how much we pay the refs...

We BOTH had 4 penalties...Minford's was for 35 yards and BURG'S was for 45....if i remember right!

Good luck the rest of the season to BOTH teams!

GREAT game BURG

Very classy move by the pirates tonight. It was great to see Aaron Salyers as an honorary captain, and good to see a standing ovation from both crowds. Glad to see that he is out of the hospital and recovering.

Yes, very classy by both sides for giving Aaron Salyers a standing ovation. Glad to see the young man out of the hospital and at home, on the road to a long, tough recovery.

One of the better games I've seen in awhile out of both teams. I don't think you can find two more teams more evenly matched. Minford kept putting 10 guys in the box and it finally caught up to them when Jordan Schank broke through the line and Mnford had no one back to catch him.

The penalties I would have to say hurt the Burg worse then the Falcons. Burg had the 15 yard personal foul penalty in the first half drive that killed a drive inside the Minford 40. They had a holding penalty on a big run by J Schank that killed another drive, but all in all, penalties didn't decide the outcome of the game. Turnovers, now that is a different story. Minford had a big interception deep in Pirate territory and also had a fumble on another drive deep in Burg territory.

Minford is the real deal and any serious Burg fan and the Burg players and coaches knew that going into the game. They knoew that this would be a dogfight and man was it ever. No. 41 for the Falcons, Williams I think was a stud. He was all over the field on defense and offense.

Good luck to the Falcons the rest of the season. Falcons have to have the toughest schedule out of any of the SOC teams as they have to play Waverly, Wheelersburg and West back to back to back. If that won't make you a tough team, then nothing will.

Won't be surprised if these two don't meet again in the playoffs. Would be another dandy.

Wow, realy quiet on here after this big game.

This game lived up to the hype that it got on here. Both teams left it all on the field tonight. Burg's defense stepped up to the challenge over and over again and again.

Minford put 10 guys on the LOS on defense, begging Burg to throw. It did finally catch up to the Falcons because as soon as J Schank got passed the LOS, there was no one back there to catch him. Great run as he broke a couple of tackles before he broke free. I guess they had faith in the defense to shut the Falcons down. The goal in this game is to keep the other team from scoring and except for one long bomb, the Burg did that. Doesn't matter how many yards you have in between the goalline, what matters is putting it in the endzone.

By the way, Burg did attempt at least one pass, the long bomb to Craigmiles that pass interfernce was called on. If B Schank leads him a little more, that was a TD. The defender had nothing else to do but interfere on the play. It did save a TD and only was a 15 yard penalty. Was a great play by theFalcon defender.

Good job Pirates. Now onto play the Mohawks at home next week and then two tough road games.

Congratulations to Wheelersburg on a hard fought win. It came down to what most thought it would, the team with the fewest mistakes would win. Too many turnovers and missed opportunities for the Falcons. Minford had more first downs, more total yards, and more turnovers....with the turnovers being the key stat.

Minford needs to keep their heads up as they played a good, hard game. Put this past you and let this motivate you even more for West.

Quick note on the refs. No they did not cost Minford the game but they blew some big calls. There was a clear off sides on Wheelersburg in the 3rd quarter (I think) that was so obvious that if they missed it they should no longer referee. On the facemask call against Wheelersburg how could it be first and 12 when a 15 yard penalty was assessed? Just wondering. on the 2nd Minford fumble wasnt the ball dead. Could have sworn I heard a whistle with Minford still in possession. Some of this crew was the same crew from the Wellston game and both sides complained about them at that game.

minford needs to be more aggressive on the punt returns. you cant let a punt roll 10-20 yards and just watch it. this happened a few times. pick the ball up and run. the turnovers well they speak for themselves.

I had nto said one thing on this thread this whole week but I really have wanted to. I did not make it to the game listened to what I could and sounded like a battle. I just want to know where all those people are through 8 pages saying Minford was gonna roll over Burg are now? I'm npt talking about some of the Minford posters who have said it will be a good game and thought Minford was gonna win I respect those but the 35-7 28-7 predictions, where are those guys? I hope those guys have alot more respect for us now after the game and won't say we are over rated.

I was pulling for the Burg in this one so as a fan of the game I am happy things ended with them winning.

Both teams seem to be very solid and both should be playing in week 11.

I'm sure that just like after the Ironton game game all the ones that ran their mouths all week taking about kicking the Burgs a$$ will run and hide and won't even give the team a congratulations for winning. The true football fans from Minford with class will get on eventually, some already have, and give the Pirates their due. The thing is though, you have to take into account that most of the ones running their mouths and predicting a Minford blowout were probably students and not adults.
