Regional Championship rematch @ Jackson

1 and 2 will not play in week 11.
1 plays 8, and 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5.

I don't think that's what he meant. I think he meant the Burg and Minford will finish 1/2 and then meet again in the regional finals at Jackson in week 13.

You are correct, I meant regional finals. I know about the neutral site after week 11, brain cramp and wishful thinking on my part. Hopefully it will be somewhere close. Southern Ohio seems to get screwed a lot when it comes to travel during the playoffs. Jackson would be a great place to play.

It seems like someone always makes a big play in the right time, Minford was a good team but in my mind i think burg should have scored atleast 2 more times if it werent for the personal fouls on the 20 yd line....good game to both, btw minford finished the job on the victory bell last night, yes it's gone, but what do they want it for?....Maybe they are ringing it So the Burg doesnt have to...hahaha Great Win!

.......so they got the victory bell last night!!!!! I'm surprised they were able to lift it. That was heavy. I guess it was time for a new one as that had been rung so much over the years, it was worn out.

By the way, loved how the Burg came onto the field at the start of warmups. Looked really good, ala Ohio State.

Yabba,
The drive you are talking about was when Minford went for the field goal and the kicker line drived it. The defense did force the filed goal opportunity, but the kicker is the one who kept us from scoring...not Burg.

Both teams played a great defensive game. Yes, Burg's defense was tough all night. By far the best Minford has faced all season. No doubt the Falcons are the best team the Pirates have face. That game was an instant classic...I have to agree with you there again.

Good luck to both teams and hope to meet you again.

Better late than never. My internet was down all weekend.

I would like to congratulate the Falcons on a fine football game. Great atmosphere and kept the fans on edge the entire game. As I expected they have an excellent team. Big difference were the turnovers however, the Pirates killed 2 drives with penalties. Minford's on turnovers. These pretty much offset each others mistakes. Minford TD was a result of blown man coverage.

I was impressed by Minford RB's. Run very hard, keep their feet under them and break tackles. Osech has a gun for an arm and a nice runner as well. Good Luck against West this week, another tough challenge.

As for Burg... WOW. I am still impressed by this bunch. More impressed as each week passes. Great leadership by the seniors and coaching staff. This team has great team chemistry. Defense was the big key in this one. Jordan Schankweiler had an awesome game rushing for over 180 yards and brother Brandon as well running the offense.

Keep the Pirate ship sailing forward and get ready as the Mohawks come to the hill this Friday.

Well this is the first time I have been around a computer since Friday, so I want to say great job to the Pirates on a hard fought win.

Minford turned the ball over too many times, each time trying to make plays or get more out of the play. Cant fault the kids for that.

Now I am sure most Burg fans were sitting on the edge of their seats after Minford's first 2 possesions, as Minford looked like they were going to run Burg off the field.

Wheelersburg did a nice job making adjustments to stop the Falcons, and Minford just turned the ball over too many times and didnt take advantage of the minimal mistakes made by Burg.

Good luck the rest of the way to Burg, I am sure Minford wants another shot in the playoffs.

On the edge of our seats, yes... But Minford running Burg off the field, come on!

I will update this with the unofficial stats from Burgfan.com
Minford won the overall yardage battle 288 to 262. Burg 262 Rushing to Minford 144. Minford passing 144 to Burgs 0. The score indicates how close this game really was. No team ran anyone off the field.

This was a great football game by 2 evenly matched opponents. IMO strength of schedule and already being in a tight game was a big advantage for Burg.

No need to point fingers, but the kicker was NOT at fault. There was an obvious mental breakdown that allowed the Wheelersburg defender to penetrate and block the kick. It's fairly simple....block inside gap. When a defender penetrates the line and blocks the punt, the breakdown is upfront. Field goals and PATs are not the time to take a break and catch your breath.

I agree... Really difficult for a HS kicker to determine how high/low he should kick the football. The interior line was at fault in that one.

Personally I was surprise on the field goal attempt where they set the ball. Most placers set up seven yards behind the line of scrimmage and on that attempt it was only six. (I wrote it in my notes before the field goal was attempted because I thought it was odd.) The line of scrimmage was the 12 and they snapped it to the 28. That may have played a role in the block as simple physics dictate that there was less room to elevate the kick before it was among the defenders. But the defense still had to put a hand to the ball.

Very evenly matched game in many aspects. Both teams had mistakes. Of course three of the turnovers came in the fourth quarter after Minford was behind. They were not why Wheelersburg had the lead. But they did stop Minford from coming back. But those were because Minford was forcing things a little more and Wheelersburg was ready for those passes.

Total yardage was nearly identical at half time. The difference that I have in the yardage for the game comes from the one pass in the third quarter. Beyond that they were essentially even in the third and fourth quarters on yards gained.
