When watching the Coal Grove/Chesapeake game last friday, I saw a completely different team in the second half out of the hornets. IMO, I believe that hornets went up to chesapeake with the big head, completely underestimating the panthers. :122247 The hornets can't afford to do the same thing this friday vs. South Point. The pointers are a good football team , but I believe that the hornets are capable of pulling off a big upset this week :-D . Good luck to all the area teams this week. My prediction is CG 21 SP 18.

South Point proved they can handle the pass against River Valley. Also we passed very successfully than we have all year. I think our speed will be too much for the Hornets. At River Valley I saw a lot of different kids on the line so kids were getting rested. With Pack back for this game I don't think CG can get through our line, if our line can hold out all night I see the Pointers winning this game and the OVC.

Man I have picked against South Point twice this year and was wrong...this South Point team is making a believer out of me...I am taking South Point in this one by 2 TD's....The more I see this team the more impressed I am with them...Good Luck to both teams..

I dont think the Point can handle the ground game of the Hornets. As long as the Hornets can finish their drives with TD instead of turnovers as they did in the beginning of the season it could be a long night for South Point. Hornets 28- SP 14.

i agree with nirvana...cg will not b able to handle our backs....they will probably have 500 rushing yards against the hornet defense...i see south point coming out with a 41-10 win

SP came out on top against Pt Pleasant and they have a very very good back in Wassonga. The backs cannot carry the complete load and diversity wins this one by 2+ scores. The tough schedule will aide SP in winning the OVC. Portsmouth may be down this year but would still win the OVC hands down. Records may be similar but CG has lost to just above average teams and SP has lost to some really really good teams. SP 26 CG 6

Probably not the smartest thing to do to say the least, considering nirvana's post show zero intelligence about high school football. Nirvana- get a life.

500 yards rushing against Coal Grove? Who do you think you are, Minford or something?? :122249

I think Coal Grove controls the ball and wins the game. Look for #20 to run for 150 on the Pointers and Coal Grove wins

21-14

I'm really surprised how many are picking SP in this game.

CG's running game will wear the Pointers down.

CG 26-12

The Falcons were actually outgained by the Hornets by about 50 yards, if I remember rightly. That game was all about mistakes and missed opportunities, not about who had the better backfield.

Nope, won't even come close to 500 yards and they might not get 200 yards of total offense if South Point tries to run right through the middle of CG's defense all night. Rock Hill has tried the same thing the past two years and has been stifled even though both times they had an as-talented if not more talented team than CG. Very rarely will a team out-Coal Grove the Hornets. There might not even be 41 points scored between the two teams.
Also, South Point's rush defense scares no one and Coal Grove's stable of running backs is every bit as good (and deep) as South Point's.
This game won't come down to who has more athletes, but who makes fewer mistakes and who capitalizes on opportunities - just like last year's game. Good blocking and tackling, no penalties and no turnovers. Slow and steady wins the race.
Delawder ran right through the South Point defense last year and the Pointers were openly frustrated - throwing punches at times. I consider this to be the Biggest Rivalry in OVC Football - EASILY. This game has traditionally always meant a good bit when determining the OVC Championship. South Point is the only team remotely close to CG in OVC Championships and has done WAY better against the Hornets than anyone else in the OVC....
