South Point had 4 fumbles I believe - recovered all but the one at the end - and I know they had at least 50 yards in penalties.

Mistakes hurt, but the call to go for two was pure guts. That's why Coach Lucas is a legend...

I'm almost speechless... it took me a while to catch my breath after this one.
One Hell of a game!

I will have to admit, I was a doubter when we went for two, I didn't think we would get it, but I was wrong and I will admit I was wrong, and that last fumble for South Point was weird, it almost looked like the center didn't know the snap count because the quarterback turned his head when the ball was snapped.

I was in doubt too, but after the game was over, I thought about it and imo it made sense for two reasons:

1)It wouldn't have been right to put the fate of the game on the shoulders of Erwin (who was awesome, I might add. Congrats lil buddy!). They got there as a team and the team as a whole should have been responsible for the outcome.

2)South Point's defense was getting pummled up the middle. Woods was getting 4,5 and 6 ypc on that drive and they just looked worn out.

And there was a bunch of stuff that just went wrong for SP on that last drive, starting with penalty on the kickoff. Also - what really killed them was the fact that they used all of their TOs earlier in the half - so they had to go for all those big bombs.

Im not sure if I was the only one in the stands that noticed when South Point had a huge play it was called back? For example, the huge run on 4th and 12 by jake seagraves...called back. Also late in the 4th quarter on the final drive there was a pass over the middle to #8 Josh Esque, not sure if everyone noticed that but that was pass interference since he was pushed down coming for the ball. There were plenty more considering that CG only had 2 penalties as SP had about 6. The pass interference on #8 would have put SP in field goal range cause the kicker Drew Lynd has a great leg.

It was a great game no doubt but im just curious as to how every big play South Point had was called back and none of CG's were?

I also saw the pass interference on Esque on the pointers last drive of the game. I am not sure if there was a hold on the 4th down run or not but i also saw about two or three face mask penalties that were not called against the hornets. I know everyone is going to say that the refs are human and i know they are i would expect them to miss the face mask penalties with all the conjestion on the play but not the pass interference.

Im not positave that it was a holding call on the 4th down play, but I think thats what it was. Yes there were also alot more penalties that the refs missed but the costly one was the pass interference

That pass interference no-call happened right in front of me and that ball was a good three or four yards short, that is why there was no call, the ball was not in play for the receiver.

Im not so sure it is from what i have heard....but weather the ball was 3 or 4 yards short he turned around and was coming for it and coulda dove for it but when he was pushed down he had no chance...

I saw 2 unsportsmen like in the 1 st quarter on SP that were no calls, this was one of the best fooball games I have seen in a long time. Congrats to SP on a hard fought game and good luck with the rest of the season.

there were several missed calls on the roughing the passer a coal grove player was tackled pursuing the quarterback right in the open.no call on the catch that haynes had the off.started to throw a flag but when caught it he put his flag back.so that was a pass inter. on south point not called. you can go play by play and see something missed. bottom line what i saw was south point fell apart at the end and probaly could have won the game. that off. crew has never been to kind to the grove. i just hope Delawder gets back healthy and it was good to see those step up that had to and play as hard as they did. good luck rest of the way grove

Here's how I see it:
If Coal Grove had lost, their fans would have brought up the no-calls that were there. South Point fans are just doing what comes naturally after a close game.
In a close game like this, there are many variables that would have changed the outcome:

What if SP's two-point conversion pass that was tipped had been knocked to the ground?

What if the Coal Grove receiver had made the long catch near the end of the 1st half?

What if SP hadn't come up just short on 4th and long - reaching just inside the CG 4 yard line?

You can think up tons of these hypotheticals, but in the end that's all they are....

Every big play by SP was called back? Did I miss something? I thought SP scored 3 TD's. Why were none of those called back if EVERY big play was called back?

I'll see if I can clear a few things up for you. I'm not sure which 4th and 12 run you are talking about by Seagraves that was called back. If it was the punt that went bad and the player ran for a first down in the early part of the game I can explain what happened. A SP player held a CG player right in front of the punter. Had that holding not occurred, the player would have lost 15 yards. The hold enabled the runner to get away from the defense. That holding was obvious.

Before comparing the number of penalties, keep in mind how many were "no doubters". By those I mean the 2 delay of games while the clock was stopped in the final minute as well as the illegal formation on SP's final offensive play.

By the way, I think both coaching staffs as well as both teams showed outstanding sportsmanship. Players from both teams helped each other up almost the entire game. It was refreshing to see teams that well-coached and well-behaved.
