Re: WK 7 Jackson (5-1, 2-1) @ Ironton (3-3, 1-2)
This is a tough one for me. Knowing the kids on both teams now, I hate for any of them to lose. I wish it could be a tie, but since it can't, I'm picking the Ironmen in a close one. I just hope it is an injury free game and one of good sportsmanship. I'll see my Ironton friends down there. I will be the one in red and white.

I don't know much about the ironman this year but its plain and simple for the Tigers this week. They have to tackle, hold on to the football, blocking would be nice, and good play calling would be nice from the coaching staff. injuries may be a factor but the people that suit up and play need to show up and not just be there. losing two games in a row will hopefully wake everyone up down in Ironton! should be a good game!

I think the gates will be wide open with a Fighting Tiger Team that will explode on TANK Field come this Friday Night. Look for I-Town to get the lead and never look back in this one. But, with that said, who really knows? Only after the clock ends with 0 time left on it and the score on the board will be the one that really counts.
Good Luck to both SEOAL Teams.

The Tigers are starting to accumulate some injuries. Let's hope all of the young men are on the mend for the Ironmen.
Defensively, I like this matchup better for the Ironton defense. While Jackson is a good ballclub, they do not have a Patrick Angle or Caleb Knights-type weapon that I know of. And that is not intended as a knock on any Jackson player, just a tribute to those 2 talented young men.
Offensively, Chance Freeman seems to be getting better every game. If Wetzel can't go, that will hurt the Tigers, and a decision will have to be made at FB as to who is going to be the guy. Two of our other playmakers, Lucas Morris and Michael Lamb, touched the ball only one time apiece last week (although Lamb was hobbled by an ankle in the second half), and that is not enough to give Ironton its best chance to win. I look for the coaches to get these guys more involved, hopefully with some screen, slants, and other short and intermediate routes. Something more than a heave and a hope. I would also like to see Morris used in some runs, like a reverse, or put him in motion and hand it to him. Lucas has been great on special teams running with the football. Logan can attest to his playmaking ability, as he took a short flip from Schwiekart 74 yards to paydirt against a good Chieftan defense.
Still a lot of football to be played this year, so this team can still find its time to shine.

pembrook,
You make a very good point. Much like Ironton, Jackson would much rather play defense against a run-oriented team, rather than having to defend a spread offense. The Ironmen struggled defensively the last two weeks and the wide open offense was a major reason for that. I think both defenses will be back in their comfort zone this week, so to speak. Ironton and Jackson both have a very good running game, though. The team that steps it up on defense and stops the run will be the team that gets the win, while also factoring in turnovers, of course.

Re: WK 7 Jackson (5-1, 2-1) @ Ironton (3-3, 1-2)
this is a huge game for the ironton fighting tigers. as much as a moral redemption game, and as well as big playoff points. this is a must win for the fighting tigers. without this game we are probably looking at setting home week 11. ironton has struggled all season with turnovers, mostly fumbles. if that part of our game plan, is taken care of. i think ironton pulls away late in this game. but we had a lot of injuries in the chilli game. i would not look for updates on players, this staff is too smart for that. so you real;ly don't know who to prepare for. because a slew of starters are hurt.
i think if ironton gets by this game, and holds down the turnovers, then we are back to playing teams more our size. if the injury bug stays away. we can be poised to make a deep playoff run. in d4.

It still amazes me when I see Ironton people using school size as an excuse. Who would have thunk it? What ever happened to the Ironton attitude of "we'll play anybody, anywhere, at any time?" I am not trying to put down the Ironton program. I am just wondering what has happened to the mindset of the fine people of Ironton.

Erin Edens did a fine job filling in as fullback after Wetzel went out. Reminded me of the days when he was running over everybody as a Freshman.
Re: WK 7 Jackson (5-1, 2-1) @ Ironton (3-3, 1-2)
Some people always have excuses - Either the refs made a bad call or it's because of their schools' size. It is never their team's fault.
The other day my son spilled a pitcher of Kool-Aid all over the floor. He told me he was trying to get some for his sisters, but he said he shouldn't have gotten into it without help. Guess What? He started cleaning it up by himself. He screwed up and took responsiblity for it. Maybe people some people on here could learn from an 8-yr. old.
If not, All I have to say is
Here is also another question, who are the ARN-ton people going to blame it on when they don't make the playoffs?

a deep playoff run?,
the only thing deep Arn-ton is going to be in is in deep crap for not making the playoffs.

Joining the SEOAL was a safe move for Ironton made with the knowledge that no longer do the Tigers have a lock on recruiting the talent out of Lawrence and Scioto counties...
If you join a league of bigger schools and then don't perform so well, you can always cry out,
"But they're all bigger schools, Brother Bluto! We might get hurt!!"

If you could READ, someone else made a comment about size of opponents.
But I guess they don't do that in ARN-ton!

I agree, he's a good running back also. I also remember his Freshmen year when he was running over everyone and I mean everyone.
Has anyone heard the extent of Wetzels, Lambs and Stinnots injuries?
Hopefully they will be ready for Jackson.
