This topic went in a direction I didn't expect.
Couldn't listen to the Ironton game online last week. Was there some type of technical difficulty? Will this week's game be streaming live online? Don't think I'm gonna make it home for the game, so I'd like to listen online if at all possible.

I will go with Jackson again this week, but like I said last week "Only if we give the correct QB the majority of the snaps." We saw the ability of our offense to control the football when we have a QB that can effectively run between the tackles with some power, but alot of quickness and balance. The short, controlled passing game played very effective for us as well. I would still like to see the difference in our defense's ability to be aggressive and shut down both pass and run by swapping Boggs and Meredith @ corner and safety. Boggs read routes and plays very well, but we play alot of man-to-man and it is tough to read with back towards the opponents QB.
Best of luck to the Ironmen!!!

I don't think anyone on here has implied that size doesn't matter. I simply asked why the mindset of the Ironton faithful has changed so much over the past few years. What is it that is so different now compared to just 3-4 years back?

Only when you are gifted with size do you really believe that it doesn't matter...

chilltown,
I disagree. The game is at the TANK and knowing just to well of being on that field myself, how intimidating it can be. If that was not so, explain last years game between our CAVS and the Fighting Tigers ON IT.
Two points:
1. Jackson's record on playing at the TANK.
2. The difference maker, Ironton's team plays to it's potential in front of their hometown fans this Friday.
Remember, Ironton blew Gallia Academy away on that field earlier this season. Jackson lost to Gallia Academy at Gallipolis. Sure, Ironton has been roughed up the past two weeks and they know it. They will be ready come Friday. Like I said in an earlier post. No disrespect to Jackson, but if I-Town gets the lead, they will not look back, but instead, they most likely will pile it on. With that said, anything is possible, especially in this SEOAL. Unfortunatley, the record speaks different. I am still going with Ironton in this one. I have a feeling, this game will not even be close. Maybe I am wrong, we won't know until the time has run off the score board to 0 seconds at the end of the 4th quarter. Then will we actually know. I believe if Ironton plays to there potential, this matchup between these two respected SEOAL Teams will be a redemption game for the Fighting Tigers come Friday at the TANK.
Good luck to both respected SEOAL Schools.
May it be a safe and injury free played game with sportsmanship portrayed by both teams.

Because comparing scores and common opponents is an exact science, right?
Let me give you an example from 2006.
Ironton 48 - Jackson 20
Chillicothe 47 - Ironton 14
Jackson 42 - Chillicothe 15
You may end up being right with your prediction, but justifying it with results from common opponents just isn't reliable. It's all about matchups and style of play.

No has said size doesn't matter.
But some of us have said that a lot of people make it into a bigger deal than it should be and use it as an excuse.
You don't see Steubenville whining about playing Watterson. You don't see Delphos St. Johns whining about size when they play Coldwater.
Those teams show up, play, and let the chips fall where they may.

That may be true. But I can't see our CAVS taking your team for granted this year like they did in 2006.
They learned from over confidence. Last season was a great example, that's why the score was 21-7 with the CAVS taking a knee on the 4 yard line, instead of punching in another score to end the game on Hernnstein.
Just like they did against Ironton last week taking a knee on the 6 yard line instead of punching in another score.
I am still going with I-Town in this one, due to the style, match-up and hungry to give their fans a victory in the light of two past games being defeated by our Chillicothe Cavaliers last Friday and by Logan the week before.
Good Luck to both SEOAL Teams.
Re: WK 7 Jackson (5-1, 2-1) @ Ironton (3-3, 1-2)
You're ridiculous. Jackson executed their gameplan to perfection against Chillicothe in 2006 and destroyed them with their running game. Last season, Chillicothe did a better job of executing and they took care of the football, while Jackson did not. The Cavs deserved the win. I'm willing to give the Cavs credit for last year's win, but you still claim that Chillicothe lost in 2006 because they were overconfident, nothing more. I guess beating someone 42-15 and running for 500 yards isn't impressive enough for you.
That has nothing to do with this anyway. I gave an example that showed that common opponents isn't a reliable predictor of future results and then you start with your usual behavior again. I'm done talking to you because I don't want to ruin this thread. Save it for next week.
