Finally game day. I think the past two weeks have been a wake up call for the Tigers. If they come out and hold onto the ball I dont think Jackson can hang with them, but if they fumble it Jackson might be able to take this game. Im saying Ironton by 7 over Jackson.

What a surprise, Army is still on here babbling to himself!

As for the game tonight, if both teams play a relatively clean football game (limiting turnovers and penalties) then this will be a battle right down to the final whistle. If one team commits multiple critical penalties and turns the ball over more than once while the other team plays clean then it will be a lopsided affair. If both teams play sloppy then who the heck knows what will happen. I hope it is a classic SEOAL battle on the river with the game being decided in the final seconds.

Should be an interesting game, Ironton should win its last three games and this game should be close.

OVERSTATING THE OBVIOUS:

JACKSON:
* At 5-1 (2-1 SEOAL), the Ironmen cannot realistically afford another loss if they have hopes of a share of a league title or a playoff berth. They are currently #8 in Div II, Reg 8.

* The good news is the Ironmen are home the last three weeks of the regular season. The bad news is they have a killer schedule ahead of them in Chillicothe, Logan and Zanesville. No one in the SEOAL has a tougher row to hoe between here and there

IRONTON:
* At 3-3 (1-2 SEOAL), the league race is over for the Fighting Tigers, and sitting #9 in Div IV, Reg 15 they are currently on the outside looking in for a spot in the playoffs. Beating a 5-1 Div II team would be a huge computer points coup.

* After this week, IHS only has one more home game; a week ten contest with SEOAL North foe, Warren Local. Any IHS-Portsmouth game is a slobberknocker, and the last chance for major computer points will come in week 9 when the Tigers travel to Nelsonville-York. The points are out there for the taking, but Ironton will certainly need to win at least three of the remaining four to get in. Anything less than 6-4 wont get it done IMO.

The Tigers are 8th according to the OHSAA.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. JoeEitel has them at #9, but his rankings are unofficial. I would say there's some type of inconsistency in the calculations involved with the Canadian team. Gotta go with the OHSAA officially.

I am glad Army is picking Ironton big. He is great at making predictions He is also great at forming leagues. He would make a great AD. I bet schools are begging him to come work for them. I was not able to get on this site for about two days. Not for sure what went wrong.

I think it is crucial we do not fall behind early, and not turn the ball over. I truly believe if we accomplish this it will be a great game. I know Army thinks the Ironmen are a bunch of pansies, but the the players will be ready to play, and probably prove Army wrong again. GO Ironmen!
